Just bought some Citrus Pre Wash, Snow Foam and a Lance from Celanyourcar (http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk0. Super quick delivery - lance seems well made in brass with solid fittings. First west using pre wash and snow foam and it made cleaning so much easier. Paint feels visibly smoother than a normal Ph neutral wash using a bucket and mit. Makes washing fun and even Mrs J joined in......

+1

I used citrus pre-wash for the first time on Sunday and was very impressed with it. Removed the traffic film that snow foam doesn't touch.

However, Deb didn't join in, so come on, get that picture up!!!

I found out the other day that Valet Pro are only just up the road from me. Plan to pop in there on ?Friday to pick up some Citrus Pre Wash.

What does it do to the wax polish previously applied? :?

"allegedly" its wax safe! Probably a good idea to top up the wax coat every now and then, but this shouldn't strip it.

After using Citrus I won't go back to snow foam. Personally I feel like snow foam doesn't do a great deal on its own, previously I've mixed it with Meguires Ultimate Wash and Wax and that's given quite good results on a car that's not too heavily soiled.

After the winter though Citrus is definitely the better one to use. I like the Auto Finesse Avalanche.

Isnt it a good idea to still snowfoam, if only for the "dirt softening" effect?

I used the VP Citrus Pre-Was on Sunday morning and was distinctly unimpressed.

Sprayed on, left to dwell for a good few minutes then came back to rinse off.

Very little dirt (if any) had been removed, or softened by the pre-wash. Furthermore, on some areas where the pre-wash had evaporated (damn sun), some nasty calcium like deposits had been left behind, which meant that I had to clay the bonnet and near side front wing to remove them.

Not sure I'll be using it again.

It does say to not let it dry, sounds like you were unlucky.

All I know is, that using snowfoam alone, then pressure washing quite close removes dirt, but not traffic film. However, when I pre-washed with the citrus pre-wash and left for 5, then snowfoamed (with out rinsing first) then left for another 5, when I rinsed off with the pressure washer, the dirt came off as normal. The traffic film didnt just wash off, I had to put the pressure washer about 6 inches from the paintwork (at an angle) and then it came off.

It did take a while to go round the car like this, but it was the first time I used it, so might be technique.

Didnt wash the car after that, and it looked clean. Would normally 2 bucket it as well, and this way there is even less crud to remove.

Not sure I'd like to get the pressure washer that close to the paint. any imperfections / stone chips etc, could mean that you just strip / peel off the paintwork. Maybe I'll give it another go, but I'm not convinced that it is actually helping to make the washing process 'safer'.

Might have been more like 12 inches (I always get those two mixed up!).

Take the point about putting it too close, which is why I kept it at an angle, but definately closer than I need to rinse snowfoam off.

Debs getting a new car in April and we'll get that detailed, so I'll pay particular attention to this stage of the wash and see how close he goes to the paint.
