Snapped my Aerial!!

Just went to replace the whip with a nice stubby from Pug. No luck unscrewing the whip as it must have been glued in, so out came the pliers to give it some gentle persuasion. Ten minutes of this and no luck so a little harder and SNAP!

The whip is now off and i do have a super short stubby, However, the bolt type bit is well and truly stuck in.

Looks like a trip to BMW tomorrow, any idea what the replacement part will set me back? Found it on Real OEM but wondering what UK prices are realisticly likely to be.

Don't know about the cost but worth soaking some penetrating oil if you have a protruding piece of stud. Grip that with some moles and thy to tighten a tiny little bit, then undo.

Worse case is you shear off the stud (well unless you slip, scrape the wing and put the grips through the rear window).

There's a cheery thought

Did see this on ebay, looks kinda nice but I dread to think how much use it would actually be...

No use and btw - I would never fit a solid aerial as when some tw*t walks by and presses it the favoured stubbies bend, while a rigid would snap or worse deform the wing

I did the same thing, If your carefull you can drill the snapped stud out and re-thread the base but one slip up could end in disaster!!

£11.50 for a replacement part from BMW.

Looks a fairly easy and quick replacement, just got to wait until Tuesday for the part to turn up...
