Snake Pass Inn Derbyshire 4-5 July 2015

Hopefully, the national organisers will see your pencilled dates, and organise to avoid, as I'd like to attend both of these next year!

if i'm not mistaken the national is normally the first week in july

it is indeed.. meaning there'll be a weekend between these two - perfect for recovering from dodgy bbq food :P

Write up -

My pick of the day would have been both Macca and @googy.

Macca would get my vote on:-

He makes my obsessive nature in cleaning my car took tame - even got cotton bugs out - he was cleaning the car start - middle - end - when we stopped he started cleaning. Would have loved to seen his face when he seen the puddle

Well done looks like a great meet and drive
I'm biased because it's my part of the world you can't beat it :driving:

Well done all involved. Looks like a great meet. Sorry I was two days too early as an Alpina would have slotted in there nicely !

We just need to coordinate all these popular annual meets so they spread out nicely and all can attend.

Thanks to the pic posters. :)

Looks like a great event. Many moons ago I lived in Sheffield and had a great time in my old Spitfire out that way. Would love to come next year but it's a bit of a jaunt from where I am now, but never say never!

@sk93 (not sure if that's linked your forum name)

We started at the Snake Pass Inn, drove up the side of the Derwent (through Maccas favourite puddle  ) round the donut at the Derwent Visitor Centre, back to Bamford over the dam, right at Sickleholme, through Hope, Castleford, through Winnats, p/ops at BJ Cavern, then return to the Travellers Rest. My only self criticism was that there was no where for a blast, it was all 40-50 mph :|

Next time maybe a longer drive with places to open them up! :driving:

Open to suggestions of an improved route next time...

Did I say next time?

I'll have to give it a go when I'm next up there.

This is my "defacto" route:

It takes about 2.5 hours to do it nonstop, throw in an hour for lunch and you're looking at a pretty decent run time I think..

I start on the A57 coming out of Sheffield, then take the route shown in an anti-clockwise manner, stopping at Holmefirth for lunch in "Sid's Cafe".
The last bit down near Bamford is a single lane road, but it's pretty much empty all the time - think I only encounter an average of one car every run so far!

Tis a good mix of scenary, tight technical bits, long sweeping corners, gentle stretches, and "foot down" straights.
At least, I like it :)

Only hard bit I'd say would be joining woodhead pass from the holmfirth road, but you're only on it for a small stretch before turning off onto a quite side road, so as long as people are briefed about it, and everyone waits on the side road the otherside, you shouldn't loose a convoy

Woodhead and Snake are easy enough... I live in between them and usually head out over woodhead, come through Strines and Midhopestones an return down the snake.....

There is a few tricky off camber corners on the Woodhead, but you really need to be pressing on to get into any trouble..

The oil can cafe toward Holmfirth is a great place for some lunch, and they are used to car clubs and meets arriving.

That looks a great run.

Cheers for the PICs and write ups. Nothing better, after the commute home, that reading about all these great summer runs that are happening at the moment. :D

Well maybe one thing. :driving:
