Snag in roof material pt2

Hi all,its been suggested that i put a soldering iron on the snag i have to melt it down so its not so obvious,does this sound a good idea? :cry:

Either that or find a company the deals with canvas roofs and know how to fix/stop getting worse.

I have one just up the road from me. If you post up a picture I don't mind popping in and asking them for advise.

Yes leave it alone. I'd be very surprised if heat would do anything but burn (not melt) it... You could make it much worse.
 
The Haartz (Z4 hood supplier) website is vague about the outer material, only saying it is "acrylic or acrylic/polyester". Either one should melt at reasonable temperature before it burns. Melting may be a reasonable measure if the threads/filaments were cut, but in this case, it looks like more of a pull or snag, the threads/filaments seem intact. I think therefore it is better left alone.

Whatever you do, Andy don't take it to that garage that told you that needed a new cat converter. They would probably advise you to use a massive red hot poker! :rofl:
