Smorgesboard of problems

Hi there, I recently got my '03 2.5 Z4 back on the road.
I've spent roughly $1000 on already getting it ship-shape (lights, new battery, fees, garage bill, etc.)
I had the battery changed at a BMW garage. Changed the oil, topped off the radiator, changed the third brake light and a side marker.
Aside from this I've done nothing and figured it'd be roughly in the state it was when I left it to sit about a year ago. (Lost my license and didn't have much use for it :P)

However, the car still presents a variety of odd problems.
All thoughts on any of them are highly appreciated.

Windshield wipers:
The wipers have a mind of their own. Most of the time when I turn them on they'll just move at full speed (no matter what the setting) for a while and then stop in any random position.
Moving the wiper lever doesn't seem to do anything. One time this problem presented in the wipers functioning as they should, ie. move at the rate as set by the lever, but then stop in the off position after half a minute.
No idea what could be going on here.

Air conditioning/Heater:
The AC will only blow cold, seems like the heater just doesn't work at all. I live in Iceland, this is bad.
No idea what could have gone wrong here.

Radiator light comes and goes:
The radiator indicator light in the dash will come and go whilst driving.
On occasion, usually when moving slowly, the temprature indicator while rise swiftly, sometimes into red. Then it will drop just as swiftly as soon as I get the car up to speed.
I had the car hooked up to an OBD2 reader when I went for a drive and at one point it indicated that the coolant temp. went as high as 122C when I was moving slow but then dropped right down to 75C as soon as I was going faster. It dropped so fast that I'm having a very hard time believing the figures.

Service Engine Soon light is on:
No idea what this really means but further info below.

Revs increase when braking:
While idling the car will rev whenever I step on the brake pedal. I'll idle at just under 1000 rpm but then rev to about 1200 rpm whenever I step on the brake.
This doesn't seem critical but it's odd and annoying.

When I read the fault codes using an ODB2 reader the only code to come up was P0102.
This indicates that Mass Airflow is low. From light googling and reading through the forum it seems to me that my MAF sensor might not be working properly.
Someone on here suggested that this might be a possible cause for the weird reving while braking problem.
I'm also thinking it might account for the "Service Engine Soon" light. Additionally I wonder if this could also account for the weird heat readings and the overheating problem?

I know this is a long post, but I've got a lot of problems with my car. All I'm really looking for is any ideas or any insights into all or any of my problems.
I've got so many symptoms I'm thinking a cross-diagnosis might be what is needed.

Please help :)

All the best,
Ulfur

Ok from the top ....1) Wipers is a common fault and a cheap and easy fix ..... http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=15283

over heating/ cooling and heating problems all probably ( possably) linked .....first I,de suggest bleeding the cooling system to ensure no air locks , air locks can cause all the problems your experiencing.
next check the auxilary belt is still there , and the water pump is actually turning
Does the temp gauge move up to the centre of the gauge and stop there before it creeps into the red ? A malfunctioning thermostat could be to blame .
Engine check light , idle speed problems .....check air intake rubber pipe between air box and throttle body for splits perishing etc.

This isnt a difinative list .......... just where I,de start , I hope it or some of it helps

Sure I have read that cars left to long with a bad or disconnected battery can slip into transport mode.. one of the indicators is no a/c and heater problems as well as electric issues.. requires reset by dealer... worth doing a search for further info...

All good advice there check it all out but try cleaning your MAF lots cheaper than replacing. There is how to on hear and YouTube. But it's for a 330 It's the same procedure just looks different under the bonnet.

As for the wipers I flowed the guide on hear it works. But mine are still playing up they do a double sometimes treble sweep on intermittent. I am going to try cleaning again. This will be the 3rd time.

Good luck buddy  I am heading over to Iceland this year to see an old school friend. Would love to go for a blast in a zed when I am there. Passenger obviously. I was in Iceland/Reykjavik in 2011 for his weeding beautifull place can't wait to come back
