Smoky exhaust

Good day! I have a 2003 2.5 SE and drove it from new. It has always been lovely, never let me down. As of late however, I've noticed that the exhaust wouldn't stop fuming even after long drives. Not as in blue smoke which is symptomatic for an engine problem but rather like it would do on a cold day's morning. The engine itself runs smoothly without any problems and the rest of the car is in new like condition as well. All inspections and oil services have been carried out over the years so I'm wondering what this could be? I would be grateful for any advice before I consult my BMW garage.

Couple of thoughts - if its white smoke (and I assume no new Pope is in attendence :) ) then:
- does the smoke dissappear after a short while? If so, sounds like moisture ingress
- do you use a petrol enhancer (e.g redex) in your engine? Overuse of this will emit white smoke (clouds of it if too excessive).
- have you tried changing your fuel supplier?

Thank you for your thoughts, much appreciated. The strange thing is that it wouldn't disappear after a short while. I also don't use petrol enhancer and almost solely fuel up at the same Esso garage. I did however recently switch from Shell Helix 0W-30 to Castrol Edge 5W-30 engine oil. But to my knowledge that wouldn't have this effect on the car?

Not that I know of - will bump this thread, someone may know more or other areas to look in to before a trip to the dealers... I would try different fuel (higher/lower RON, different garage) though if you're not seeing any other problems. I remember reading a post somewhere where a garage had water ingress into one of their fuel reservoirs, with cars reporting starting problems/stuttering. :?

Thank you kindly for your thoughts. Some really good suggestions, very helpful. I will start with a different garage first.
