SMG Problem

Just tried to start my SMG after two weeks in the cold ...started.....jolted forward in neutral and now i have the transmission light on the dash and it wont start. The gear indication says "FN" when it normally says "N" for Neutral and "D" for drive etc.
Lots of beeping when ignition is on to indicate a fault.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Hi,

You will know if the pump is priming when as soon you unlock the door (or boot for that matter) you will here as whirring noise from the pump. If your car has stood idle fro a while and doesn't work as normal the first and easiest thing to try is charging up the battery this worked for me for a while but unfortunately it was masking a bigger problem. But try it, your never know might just be the cold weather.

Best of luck

Hi thanks for the reply.
Yeah the pump is definately priming still then.
Not sure if that is a good thing or not

Just an update- It is in the garage JP BMW indy.
Looks like the relay and microswitch. Hopefully get it back today.

Good news considering I was worried about the actual box.

Good news
I bought a relay recently off ebay cheap. I took the cover off to check the contacts which were like new and I'll keep it as a backup. For future reference, where is the microswitch?

Bladeowner. I will ask the indie for you. They are BMW specialists and on the trusted list held on this forum. I havent a clue! :)
