SMG Problem.

Ouch - that sounds painful/expensive- especially if clutch is not covered -wonder if that extends to flywheel etc.

Be interesting to hear if BMW claim that wear is normal after only 55,000 miles or if any preventive maintenance could have been done - sorry if that sounds selfish - as I only have 22,000 miles on my 04. As I've said before I love the SMG box but do have slight concerns over what conditons and/or driving techniques can accelerate wear, eg hill starts or high rev shifting.

Agan our fingers are crossed for you - good luck and thanks for the updates ! Why don't you take the courtesy car offered - at least they will want it back asap. Oddly mine was originally purchased from Stephen James (not by me).

Another update in post 1. Some very good news at last.

sorry jimbo - I can't see today's update in post 1 ? I've tried refreshing but latest looks like the 20th?

Should be there now mate...was editing.

Thanks for the kind words and interest throughout this.

that is excellent news for you - a rare Easter treat !! sorry you won't have it back over weekend but warranty sucess is the more valauble - quite a cost still. I must revisit the idea of a warranty on my zed. Thanks for the post and updates - more SMG talk needed- hopefully a little more positive.

Thanks again jax74. I really love the SMG box. Might not be as refined as the more modern boxes but better than a manual for me due to my zed being used for my daily commute.

Cheers. :gmb:

Fab news jimbo1958. As a fellow SSG SMG'er it is good to know that this kind of stuff is covered by warranty.
Let us know how it goes once you get it back.

Thanks Banbury.....will report when I get it back.

Least you're not having to pay all that whack fella. I loved my old SMG Z. Don't be disheartened.

Still can't believe they've had it for so long though, shocking really. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if they at least bloody contacted you when they say they will. That's a pet hate of mine. :headbang:

Thanks mate......good news I've got her back. :driving:

Update in post 1.

Clutch was replaced under warranty at the same time as the SMG pump.

At least it's fixed now, hope she's been running fine apart from that!!

Hello Mattt you old lurker. :D

Did wonder why the clutch only had minimal wear.
Car is running great now and boy am I glad I continued with your warranty. :D
Only mod I've done since buying off you is fitting the Intravee for Ipod connection. Lovely bit of kit.
Gonna ditch the runflats soon.
Met your buddy on the London Meet who recognised the car as your old one. Off to the National Meet in the Lake district in July.
Hope you're well and the TVR is giving you plenty of :D :D :D

Cheers

Yes, I was glad I had the warranty - must've had a fair few thousand spent on it thanks to that!!!

Adam said he saw you and the car, and it was very shiny! TVR is good, very quick!!
