Thanks Darren and everyone (not Woots :poke: ) I'm not good at this stuff
It seems neither am I!! My replacement glass came this afternoon & I have managed to smash the replacement while trying to fit it :headbang:

Just ordered another one off eBay now, at this rate it will prove cheaper for me to go to Beemer for the original replacement :(

I'd better be extra careful then.
You won't any worse than me Ruby, I am just a complete plank!

This is the one I brought about a month ago. It's plain glass, they also supply tinted, and it comes with a peel off complete sticky backing. Very easy to fit.

Just bought this, thank you for the link, saved me a job

What about the actual clip on ones, bought one of these for my Hyundai recently after some **** drove through mine (smashed his too and so I took his cover, glass, etc)

The clip one just fit straight on as a replacement like these :

Couldnt find a driver side one for some reason..

As long as you don't have the special self-tinting/anti-glare mirrors then the ebay ones should be fine, although I'd probably try to find one with the full-back adhesive rather than the ones with a few strips of sticky tape.

Ive not heard of the auto dimming ones flling off, i think the visible bezel on them must help hold in place.

both my mirrors came loose... I've reattached them using high heat silicone (stuff they use on industrial ovens) ...THEY WILL NOT BE COMING OFF EVERRR AGAINNN :D

Not suitable in this case. The black heated pad is still in place so a stick on replacement glass is all that is needed.

I see, relatively easy to pry off the pad though correct?

Usually the b****y glass has just fallen off as people are driving along or, as in my case, when they shut a door. :x The OEM adhesive that is used is c**p and just gets very dry and brittle after a period of time. If people notice that the glass is vibrating as they drive along, then is the time, that they should carefully prise off and stick with either double sided tape or a better adhesive.

Any ideas where to pick up a mirror for the (i assume) chromatic type....ordered one but fitting is different. Mine went bang and it now looks like blackish plastic finish, so assume it must be chromatic as well as heated, but also assume not the liquid type tbat was a problem on original ones. As bh not able to call bmw yet. I impatiently ordered one online late at night ithout removing original first to check fitting. Code is hegh0079k L abs/pc, or 711671

Funnily enough I got a replacement from Halfords a couple of months ago.

They do three sorts
- bog standard
- anti glare
- anti glare with a blind spot section.

I seem to remember I paid around £13 and I was pleased to see that the whole of the reverse was adhesive and not just a couple of sticky strips.

It's still on and the heating element works just fine.

bmw choose to leave these heated even when its 30 Deg C outside.... so i think the heat over time causes them to drop off.
