Hi everyone first post. Attempted to fit smarttop to e85 nothing worked , removed smart top module now the roof won't retract it unlatches and windows go down but then red light flashes and nothing checked boot levers and done manual open but still nothing it locks and unlocks the roof but will not move the roof up or down
Any help is really appreciated
Daz

Whenever I’ve done something similar I find that if you put everything back where you found it you’ll find the problem

Did you cut the wires or piggyback them? With a piggyback you could have actually cut the cable so check all connections.

Welcome to the forum again Daz.
I really hope the forum can sort your problems for you. You have come to the right place TBH. :|

I’m no expert but have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. The roof might just need a reset.

Noticed yesterday there are 2 versions of the smart top
For the e85 one is plug and play the other is piggybacking a few wires , maybe that's the issue either way it doesn't help my current problem I have totally disconnected the smart top module I did have the battery disconnected at the time , but will disconnect rhe battery tonight and leave it 30 minutes
Thanks for your replies guys

Hi thanks for the replies any advice is very much appreciated, tried disconnecting battery for a hour but made no difference will put a multimeter across the terminals of the roof motor which has been relocated in the boot ( thankfully) can anyone recommend a easy obd scanner, don't really want to take it to garage as I like to have a mess myself, and really had some bad experience with garages, brake pipes zip tied worn through loose wheel nuts bolts missing etc

Did you revert everything back to how it was?

No point in getting a scanner to tell you the circuit is incomplete?

Yeah put everything back as it was , but roof motor still not moving it unlatches windows go down and that's it red light flashes, maybe loosened a wire in roof module possibly same thing when I press roof close it locks and windows go up,

Can't help with your roof issue but I will suggest that your punctuation is absolutely atrocious!
'and' never comes after a comma in any circumstance.

Sorry old boy incorrect
On Monday we'll see the Eiffel Tower, and on Tuesday we'll visit the Louvre. Is correct usage.

Was going to test pump today but minus 2 when I got in the van this morning and been working in empty house no heating so can't get ass away from radiator tonight hopefully will sort this weekend, seriously considering a fault reader hoping that may throw up some clues but thin I have pulled a wire loose from white roof module connections

Wondering if there is anyone near stourbridge West Midlands who could take a look obviously I'll pay the rate ??

Nope, you are incorrect.

You also created a new sentence unnecessarily;'Is correct usage.', when it should have in fact been tagged on to your preceding sentence, following a comma of course.

:P

Ignore Chris. He just likes being obnoxious. Bad day or time of the month; who knows?! :D
I'm actually invariably triggered by the twods of the 'Z4 Forum Bingo Handbag Brigade', of which you are a long-standing and honorary member.
