SMART alloy repair?

Absolutely gutted - kerbed one of my alloys tonight. About 8th of the rim. Pretty annoyed regarding the circumstances that caused it (anyone ever heard of Muttonhole road in South Lanarkshire?) and quite keen to get it repaired.

Been looking online and in theory the smart repair mobile people would be ideal - not going to have a chance to get the time needed off work for quite a while. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of smart/mobile alloy repairs before? And for anyone in Glasgow, anyone got any good recommendations? If it's going to be a waste of money I'd rather just wait and get it done properly at a later date.
 
There is good and bad tradesman in any work sectors be it smart repairs, wheels refurbs, bodyshops, detailers even!
Shop round and dont just go on cheapest price see if they have a portfolio or online gallery on there website, ask them as many questions as you can think of.
You want the wheel repairing off the car so they dont get paint on your brakes so ask for that option, if they dont offer that there cowboys.
 
Looks quite easy in principle peddy - have you tried it yourself?

Had a look again today - the damage isn't actually that bad, but I know it's there! Also noticed that vie kerned the back wheel as well slightly. I was aiming to get my wheels powder coated in a darker colour later in the year. I might just try and repair it myself at the moment with a view to getting all four coated later in the year when I have the money for it!

Lazy sod didnt even take the wheel off the car, and using a kife to cut the filler :o
 
Actually seen a couple of guides on the internet - all of them have left the wheel on the car (although he's the only one to use a knife!). Quite tempted to give it a shot. Either that or going to cost a maximum of £120 in total (spoke to someone earlier who quoted that as a maximum price).
 
I'v repaired mine myself twice now, only one was my fault tho, if your fairly competent at hands on sort of stuff its really easy to do yourself.
I used a selection of wet and dry papers, some air hardening body filler, a can of Wurth wheel silver for german cars.

Simple terms:
Take wheel off
rub area down until there are no raised bits
fill all the low bits with filler
rub down again until fully smooth
mask tyre and give a quick cover with paint, feather edges
wait 1/2 an hour
put back on car
for smug feeling ask people where they think the damage was :thumbsup:

Once you've bought the stuff (bout £10 all in) if it ever happens again you've got all the gear to do it probably another 50 times.

hmm, interesting. However, does this also work for 'shiny' alloys?

as far as I can see, these are not painted

all 4 of them have scratches, would be tempted to repair them myself
