Small dot next to the odometer

Hi all,
to a guy on our italian forum appeared this small dot in the odometer.

I read somewhere that this was used to ahappen if you try to disconnet the odometer and or if someone tried to modify the mileage.
Now, I'm 100% sure that this guy never played with the odometer.
Are there any reason to justify the "red dot"?

yes, that is the tell tale dot. Not sure if that is also shown when you replace the intstrument cluster.

What is weird is that the odometer has not been replaced... :?

I think he will have a hell of a time trying to explain that one if he trades his car in. A private buyer might not be aware of the meaning of course.

The funny thing is that he went to his swiss dealer (he lives in Zurich and he bought the car, new, in 2003) and their answer was: "Interesting. Really strange. No clue of what it is".

here is the swiss guy with the strange DOT...
Just to precise some important points:

1. I will NEVER trade in my Z4.
2. I'm in touch with the swiss BMW official dealer in Dielsdorf, not Titan.

The DOT is really funny, it suddennly appears, and disappear the next time I turn on the car. It can not be that I'm the only one having it...

Never say never on trading in your Z4, maybe one day you would trade it for another Z4 with a bigger engine

In the two Zed's I've had/have I've not seen your problem. It seems a bit special, so it might be hard to find anybody else who can help you.

Hoping you can find a solution, but if you don't get the help you need from the official BMW dealer, then contact BMW itself directly, either in your country or in Germany. Sometimes the official dealers are not good enough.

Have you changed anything about the headlights/tail-lights recently?

the car is keeping mileage information at several places (memories).
If there is a mileage difference between them, such a dot appears to the odometer.

I though this happened to Jinthekoereankid (BlacksapphireZ) on Z4um after trying to switch to the ///M dials, but he doesn't appear to have posted here. Maybe it wasn't him, but there was definitely someone on Z4um with it.

ya the dot appeared on the M cluster but not my original cluster which i put back in after finding out they do not work

my mileage is still accurate
