Small dealer warranty would you bother?

You misunderstand. You can be polite but demand action. Your text was weak and already accepting mere half payment as an opening position.

So you think he thinks I'm just a chicken s**t & won't do anything so thinks there's no point in responding? :)

found a local garage who said £160 all in using Bmw gasket

Hi Jamie - did you see my post regarding the Indy I use?

Sounds like he has a tried and tested policy for dealing with complaints.

the amounts involved are bordering on the "can't be arsed with the hassle" for me.

And I'm also in the camp of not trusting the guy as far as I could throw him given his response (in terms of him sorting it).

Sounds like you've already chalked this one down to experience - find something else to worry about

Indeed Jasey, prepared to take it on the chin, at least I have highlighted the name of the garage now, and as z4m coupe tend to be bought by forum users hopefully they'll be aware of this guy now!

Got this reply

Hi jamie, ive sent all the info to your email! The guarantee covers the rocker cover but not oil leaks im afraid. They wont even consider any goodwill due to the mileage on the vehicle. They consider it wear and tear. Sorry.

I would say not to trust the seller to do the job properly even if they relent. Pay up and then send him the invoice, refer to your communications and ask him to reimburse under warranty otherwise you will go to a small claims court. By the way unless it is a poor pic that engine looks really dirty. If it was a £10k car I would have expected at the very least a nice shiny engine.
Good luck!

I wouldn't even mention warranty, your rights are under the sale of goods act. Its a fault and so soon after purchase is fair to assume that it was present at sale. If you are serious about getting a repair and also recovering your costs drop me a PM.
