Small aerial

We could still possibly go down the third route they offered, saves a couple quid on postage. I could ask them if we can just arrange the orders as pairs and send the payments for each order with a mention of Z4-forum group buy.

Or we could keep things simple and get our collectivly lazy asses into gear and just order the darn things ourselfs.

We tend to buy products in bulk every year as gifts for press, and find that every e-tailer is usually up for a deal - just need a short list of etailers that sell everything we want and i'm positive we can get a good deal out of them...

This sort of stuff has to be about 20-40% margin, so 10-20% discount has to be a given at least! Any suggestions?

Why not send one lump payment then have them post the aerials out directly? That way they wont attract import VAT and the seller circumvents fleabay fees so will be likely to do a deal if it means a substantial lump sum is paid.

Dont forget paypal fees!!

Just for info, but when I did the group buy 2 years ago, and ordered a dozen or so they were sent loose in a jiffy bag so didnt attract any attention. Cant remember if they were marked gift or not, so it might be worth splitting the buy in 2.

Can it be confirmed that this group buy is now officially dead in the water?

Yes, I think so.
The savings to be made are so minimal even without attracting customs charges. It's only a pound here and there, with the probability being a group buy would be more expensive.
I think in the last few years customs have become a little wiser to the amount of stuff being imported via internet sales.

I can't believe how expensive these things are... almost makes you wonder about speccing it out in a CAD program and getting them mass produced in China...

My two 'stubbies' arrived this morning, and the 7" S2000 one has a larger base than the 3" one and the radio reception is worse too (on the 7" S2000 one).

As an aside... Are storage nets not standard? I have one on my passenger side in the footwell..

That's the one.

I also ordered this one (7" S2000 type with 23mm base) as a spare, although I now realise I should have ordered this one as it's got the correct size base (7" stubby with 15/16mm base).

Haven't tested either for phone/satnav reception yet - although reading the posts on here, it might not be used for either of those functions anway.

I think the aerial does GSM (phone) and AM (radio) doesn't it?

Bluetooth is mounted on the rear firewall, not sure where the gps is, but not there. I think FM is in the rear bumper, as well as TV.

Obviously you only get GSM signal if your phone is docked (eject box).. bluetooth won't make any difference as it will use your phone's aerial.
