Sluggish

I hope someone can help me as I am about to take my 2.5 05plate roadster to the garage and would like to be armed with some knowledge if poss.

I have a really sluggish feeling under 2k revs. I feel I really have to put my foot down to get anywhere at all and the kangaroo effect in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear is quite something at times! It's also incredibly annoying and is spoiling the enjoyment of my beloved car.

It feels like I have a slight hesitation at around 1800-1900rpm and then after it's passed 2000rpm it flies!


Anyone got any ideas??
 
I'm no expert (well not about cars anyway) - but my guess would be your coils and plugs need replacing.
 
check the mat isnt catching on the peddle, if its free, try this http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20878&p=295382&hilit=throttle+reset#p295382 .If throttle reset has no effect , plug in a fault code reader see what comes up .
 
Time to trade it in for an ///M if you don't want a sluggish Z4!

Sorry....not constructive, but I couldn't resist. Mind you I had the 2.5 roadster before I changed to the ///M coupe, so I feel qualified to compare! :D
 
Could be a multitude of things, best get the dealer to stick the diagnostics machine on it and it will tell you all you need to know.
 
Thanks for the replies everyone. Do you think it could benefit from a new set of plugs? They are the originals so 6 years now?
 
Just noticed something strange? This problem seems to get worse when I'm low on fuel? Could this shed any light on the problem?
 
It could easily be the plugs. They don't tend to get changed that often. My 03 3.0 had a Insp2 in Feb ths year and it didn't half make a difference to how it ran. It was like having a new car,it was so much smoother.I rekon the plugs had been in for 4 years at least.Give it a try and see how it is.Sometimes it is just a process of elimination.
