Slow pickup on power Z4M

In the M today and pulling away from a roundabout, rolling in 2nd, put my foot down and it seems slow on the pickup, goes through 500rpm slowly then picks up. Same then happens in 3rd. It pulls along, but then seems to step quicker like twincams.

The power just doesn't seem immediate, but delayed. Generally in higher revs, say for an overtake, it goes like stink, its the lower revs.

'hesitation' problem?

Search on the forum and you'll find plenty of info on it (I'm afraid I haven't got any other advice).

What are you doing at 500rpm - trying to pull that low is not going to do the acceleration any favours :P

What are the actual RPMs we're talking about? I notice that if I use a steady throttle from about 1000rpm then I can feel little surges at specific points in the range (e.g. 1750, 3000, 4500, 6000rpm). On full throttle I don't tend to notice them. Must be something to do with the VANOS or intake variations at different RPMs.

No, the car isn't at 500rpm, its for 500rpm as I accelerate.

Probably at 1500rpm or so, I'll try and remember next time!

But, it seems as though a new TPS and clean the throttle bodies might help.

The peak torque is at 4900rpm, and at 2000rpm the torque is only about 80% of peak therefore if you start accelerating at around 1500rpm, you'll have even less torque for the initial part of acceleration.

My suggestions would be (as a start)
Do an Adaptive throttle reset
like it tells you here
Stop tryin to race Merc e350cdi's from low revs. They will win on throttle response as they are in the right gear and you aren't.
(Spoken from experience :| )

80% torque at 2000rpm from an NA engine is nothing to sniff at. There is always a serge from 2000 stop driving it like a granny.

I'm driving a 640d at the moment, if I dive both cars the same the 640 feels an f1 compared to the my m. Dive the m aggressively it's about the same.

However I do love all that lazy, easy to get power!

No, not used to driving a diesel.

The round about was an example of it at its worst, it is still bad higher up the revs, going for an overtake for example.
