Slow Auto Box

:D Hi All
I have a 2004 3.0 Auto with FBMW SH and 57000 miles. Over the last little while the box is slow to down change when foot put down hard (2 second delay). The engine is fuelling straight away and is igniting in the exhaust off the CAT, causing a pop through the exhaust. From a standing start the box is fine. It went to BMW and no fault codes were found.
Has anyone come across this before or have any thoughts on the possible cause.
Thanks
Tony

Welcome to the Forum. Fairly standard BMW diagnostic from a dealer - No fault code, No problem! However if you are getting unburnt fuel combusting in the exhaust then there must be a problem somewhere. Unfortunately that's as far as I can go - I have no doubt others can give you a better response to help solve your problem

Almost all auto box problems boil down to fluid and or internal filter changes. Never looked at a Zed box (despite having an auto) but would visit a specialist auto box centre for diagnosis and suggestions. All my Jeep box issues have been cured by new fluid, although the BMW box is supposdly good for life.

Thanks CJ10Jeeper for your advice, I have just tried the car in steptronic mode and the box operates fine when down shifting manually and accelerating hard, so the problem only seems to be applicable when in full auto mode.

That would furhter point me to a simple fluids or adjustment job as all the steptronic is doing is grounding out a circuit and forcing a change up or down within speed and torque parameters.
