Slow Aircon Fan

Though there might be cheaper places. Check to make sure the trickle is keeping it topped up, if not then disconnect it when not in use until you find the drain.

Thanks Steve. I've plugged in my car to the website and it recommends either a Hankook or the E11 Varta. Did you say you got the E44?

Yes defo E44, I think it was a little bigger but still fits fine unless there are model differences I don't know about.

So, new battery fitted as the last one was dead - no difference to the fan speed. Suspect now the final resistor hedgehog thing. Where is it located? I had the stereo out this weekend and there didn't seem to be any wires going into the fan controller. The switches either side had fairly large wiring looms going in to them, wonder if something had been disturbed when the previous radio was fitted?

The resistor is hidden behind the glove box from memory. The fan/air con switch unit sounds like it should be in terms of wiring

New vehicles are delivered to dealers in transport mode. It is deactivated before delivery to customers, however it seems that dealers are not disabling it, so it keeps popping up on various cars, usually when battery voltage has dropped below a certain level.
You've just reminded me to check mine as the battery died a couple of weeks ago (key left on in ignition). I don't think I've checked aircon/fan/rear demister since recharging it. I have access to NCS so can clear it if needed.

As above really. When a battery drains it can go into transport mode, low fan speed, no a/c and rear demister not working are classic signs. Happened to me a few days ago after I accidentally let my battery drain after fitting a mediabridge. Any indie garage would be able to reset it. It cost me £25 to get mine sorted. BMW would probably charge a lot more.

Update, just got back for the weekend and the rear screen heat and aircon do not function, so it's looking a lot like transport mode. I'm massively grateful for the help and advice fellas, I could have gone down a deep rabbit hole without your suggestions. I'll get it reset at an Indy. Awesome, thank you all.

Chaps, as advertised, went to an indie, £20, sorted. Transport mode, what a pain the arse!
Good news that's all it was. I was sure you could disable transport mode so it can't come back on (and I thought dealers were supposed to do this when they took delivery of the vehicle). Perhaps not?

Is this something that has actually happened to UK cars?
I am wondering if this is something that's only happening in certain regions around the world (different programming from the factory etc).
Or is it simply something that can happen anywhere in the world and is hit and miss and more a case of the supplying dealer not doing their job properly and deactivated it pre-delivery.

I believe it's the latter. Would be interested to know what the dealer's themselves say.
