SLK 350 over 3.0si?

Yes hello,
There has been an idea in my mind for about a month now. Would you sell your Z4 3.0si for SLK 350 post facelift?
The thing is, my friend's got one and its a really cool car, it is faster and sounds better when you push it to the max. But still my hearth says Z4 looks much better, but my mind is telling me try SLK.

sounds better is debatable, v6 vs straight six, yes its probably quicker, but as you say, it looks like a haidressers car! A squished down SL, very problematic too that shape your looking at, i wouldnt bother.

I found the newer slk's a bit over designed, personally if I was looking for an slk it would have to be a slk 32 amg, not many about but did see a low mileage one recently for sale with performance cars for about £14k. 0-60 in under 5 seconds and they sound amazing

Not sure the SLK 32 AMG was under 5 seconds to 60mph but I think the SLK 55 AMG that replaced it was...just. Depends if you are happy with auto too as no manual option as far as I am aware.

I am sorry but a bloke in an SLK doesn't look right to me.

Call me old fashioned / sexist / deluded. Delete as appropriate.

H.

the SLK has a metal folding roof - big plus point, but they do tend to be driven mostly by women. I prefer the pre face lift too. I did have a phase when I considered a 350. I believe the cabin isn't the best place to be - bit uncomfortable and flimsy, although I've never sat in one let alone driven one

Had the newer one as a loaner after some tw@ crashed into mine, folding roof is nice as is air scarf but honestly was glad to be back in the zed after a week of the merc

Slk is no sports car IMHO. More in the E89 vane. Comfy, torque rich GT, likely to cost more to run than a 3ltr E85. No comparison in the looks dept. So would stick with the Zed here. :)

When I road tested the Z4 35i the garage also had an SLK 55 AMG
The Z4 was definitely more comfortable and roomy, when I put the seat right back in the merc my head hit the roof.
The quality of the interior was also a disappointment compared to the Z4
Hence I have decided Z4 35i is the way to go

Before buying the ///M I test drove a Merc AMG SLK and a Boxster S. SLK was nice and fast, but didn't feel sporty enough. The Boxster confused me as to whether I was going forwards or backwards.

I have no regrets in getting the Zed! :)

Problem with the SLK is the rear end is truly ugly, they still haven't fixed the problem on the newest model

I suppose an SLK is much nearer to an E89 than any other Z4, but AFAIK a manual gearbox isn't available.

Seeing as I specifically wanted a manual Coupe an SLK was never an option for me.

Maybe a wafty auto will appeal more when I'm older!
