OK guys need a bit of advice.
Removed the steering wheel to replace with the M wheel I bought. The top of the slip ring came detached and left me with the ribbon tape and no way of reinstating it.
Bought a replacement from Quarry motors for a tenner and its on its way.
However before this numpty gets any deeper in the quagmire do any of you guys have the TIS or BMW procedure to replacing these slip rings?
Is it just a case of pulling it off the steering wheel or are there fixings, clips or any hidden attachments I should be aware of?
Finally needed to get mobile so stuffed the tape back in (it was slightly more than stuff back in but only just!) and left the plugs out of the air bag.I knew Id get the light and wasnt disappointed.
Now the dilemma; do I need to go to BMW and have them look disapproving down there nose whilst they take the car in for an hours worth of diagnostics followed by an hour removing the error signal or can an Indy do it? If so is there one local to the Southampton/Portsmouth area?
Cheers
Russ
PS Wheel looks and feels very nice
