My best friend, the one who was looking at GTR's has just bought THIS...

Picks it up tomorrow.. Even I'm excited, just need to persuade him to let me have a go :police: :police:

Went to see it with him at the weekend, the NOISE is unbelieveable..

He drove the GTR, and although the performance was, in his words "fooking unbelieveable" so apparently was the rattly parcel shelf and tacky interior of the £67,000 4 month old car....

Am sure the Wife would agree, BUT - As I pointed out to her, in the last 12 months alone, SHE has been bought;

A new Dyson
A heat pump drier
New washing machine
New iron
New TV
AND
One of those electric filey things for her scabby trotters!!

The last one was almost launched at me...

I think I'd still have gone for the GTR, mainly due to it's track capability and that it'd probably hold it's value better than an AMG Merc.

We did all the sums, and he was going for a GTR, due to the fact they hold onto their value, BUT after driving it, he just wasn't impressed with the build quality or interior.

A mate is picking up the previous model AMG C63 with the 6.2 litre V8 tomorrow. He's hoping to get 20mpg out of it...
Should be an awesome car.

Well, granted I have a tiny engined C class, but I won't be going back to MB again. Service levels are ok even good at times, but the build quality of these cars is poor for what you pay. I thought I had issues with the e89, but the MB is fast gaining a larger list. I even noticed this week when unloading the MB that the pano roof was wonky, higher by nearly 1cm on the left than the right when retracted. Reason? When assembled the alignment screw was set low on one side and high on the other. 5 mins later and a torx driver and we have a straight pano roof. So MB, Tolerances? What's the word for that in German... I'm guessing you're not sure. Probably the same word as quality control. Oh and don't get me started on the god awful snatchy gearboxes, the hinge in the boot that is welded 1 inch to the right of where the actual boot floor cover hinge sits, meaning every time you lift the floor cover, it just falls off. Makes you wonder what else they missed. Oh perhaps the rear passenger door alignment that was done on a friday evening... or the knocking front suspension that I'm told is normal... all this on a spanking new car.
