Slightly different drain holes question

Today I had a go at checking the drain holes for the first time

I managed to find the plugs under the car on both sides and poked around until they felt clear

Also poked an old piece of TV aerial cable down from the top on the drivers side and was surprised how much water came flooding out from beneath

Obviously this can't be done on the passenger side due to the motor

I tried (with the roof down) pouring water from a watering can on both sides and it seemed to drain away quite easily but some of it seemed to go along inside the sills and exit near the front wheels (as well as some from near the rear wheels) - is this right?
 
Hi,

Done mine recently and noticed the same thing - the water draining out is slightly obscured by the sill covers and so some water runs along between sill and cover (Especially if the the front is pointing down hill).

Mine does this also, however my old preface Zed used to drain straight onto the floor under the rear arches.

Understand original idea was to stop dirt going UP & blocking them, as more will come from underneath than drains as dirt from the roof

It can be done, you just need to be quite accurate. Did mine last week because I've been working in Somerset and, well... you may have heard what it's like down there at the moment. :?

Took the wheel arch panel out but left the wheel on because I have girly arms and spindly fingers. I doubled up some galvanised wire and threaded it into the drain from above and below.

I actually thought the drain was clear before because the water was passing through quite well. Hadn't realised that with no obstruction it should be like this...

I've left the plug off, which has obviously helped the flow, but I think it might have made the road noise worse on the passenger side. It's the first time I've ever really noticed tyre roar from the other side of the cabin.
 
what is the outcome if ya don't clear....I've just purchased a 53 plate straight six 2.5 omg it's quick but have noticed water in both left and right wells in the boot!! Any idea's???

Does it matter if the side without the motor is blocked? And is it more likely to get blocked because the motor stops debris falling down into the drain hole on the passenger side?
