slight clunk/knock when putting in reverse

Ive noticed a slight clunk when I let the clutch out in reverse, coming from under the car, just at the point where the clutch bites. its only just noticalble.

amI right in thinking this would probably be the Diff greasing issue Ive read about on here somewhere? has anybody else experinced anything similar?

Could be the differential flange grease SIB or it could be play in the propeller shaft coupling...either way the exhaust and heat shield must be dropped to remove the propeller shaft. Once the exhaust and shield is out of the way the Indy can rotate the shaft and isolate the source of the noise very easily. I was under the car with the Indy and we could easily duplicate the sound and determine where it was from just but rotating the propeller shaft. Then he removed the shaft and fixed the problem. Estimate 2 1/2 hours work for a good Indy...that's what I paid and my car is now quiet. While it's on the hoist I suggest you get the CDV removed as it only takes an Indy 5 minutes.

Exactly what stromtech said :)

Mines going in to have this fixed at next service.

cheers guys, I removed the CDV as soon as I got the car.

any idea how much the fix cost, Im guessing a couple of hours labour must be £150 or so?

I paid $250 Cdn ...that included 2 1/2 hours labour, shop materials and taxes. My Indy labour rate is $80 per hour. I don't know how much UK Indys charge but a quick call should get you a rate.
