Sky HD Problems - No series link

Hi guys,

Having a headache with sky HD.

I cant get the option for recording a "series" or "once". Moreover, cant get the series link to work.

Also cant et programme information longer than a day forward..
:(

Pile of crap..

Mine hasn't downloaded anything from 'Anytime' for 3 months - the call centre just keeps saying "please wait another month to give it chance to update".

It also fails to record most of the stuff I set up to record - always giving me the "Recording Interrupted - Please Wait" message :headbang:

Glad I download anything I really want to see.

tried the old turn off, unplug, hold down backup on the box, plug in and turn on.. then wait ten or so seconds.
it'll then say don't turn it off, then reset itself properly and download any important updates.

fixed my series link issues about six months ago.

also, make sure your phone cable is connected!

Would it be a good idea to tell you all I work for Sky...............maybe not

Have you had the sky HD box changed over from Sky Plus? Have you had the Sky Plus box installed elsewhere in the house. I had the same problem. The account needs to be prioritised to make the HD box the primary box. If the HD box will not record at all but the Sky Plus box will, Sky need to change the prioritisation over at thier end. Your installer should have done this at the time of installation (after all they charged you for install) Hope this solves the problem. It did for me.

Touch wood no more problems, did need 4 different HD boxes though as Sky does not support Professional range plasma screens.

Update:

In a moment of frustration I unplugged everything, and then came back to the box after a few hours and plugged it all back in.

Viola, everything is working 100% fine now.

On another note, I dont think SKY HD is worth paying for. Too buggy, so i'll be reverting back to the normal sky+ box after my years contract is up.

Change boxes ... I did 4 times until it was all sorted. I got hold of the mobile number of the engineer and went through all the makes of boxes there exist to test each one to see which one is best for me.

Now I have a 100% working system that is excellent (unfortunately, the 800 Gb Amstrad box did not work as I would have like the tiny box with the huge HDD though).

On a serious note Guys, if there is anything you think i can help with let me know, whilst i can not personally enter your accounts as this would be a sacking offence i do work in a dept with account and technical experts who can enter your accounts and have in the past helped resolve issues friends and family have had when they have not been resolved by the call centre.

HD is still very much a new tech and is still a bit buggy, as was Sky+ when first released and that took a couple of years to sort. Sky are getting ready to launch more HD channels the biggest one being ITV1, Which means the world cup can be viewed in HD, we hope to have over 50 HD channels by Xmas. Iwould say HD is worth the money but only if you have the full package, anyone not suscribing to sports or movies then No i would agree not worth it at the Mo IMO.

Finally ITV then :)

Although the bandwidth of the current ITV is not too bad to be honest for SD. The "cheap" channels do look rather bad though.

Hi Guys

Been having some problems with my Sky HD box over the last few days. I have a Samsung box which has worked perfectly well for almost 2 years. It was my fourth box after a few teething problems with the original refurbished ones they tried to palm off on me, but as stated it has worked really well.

For some reason the box has started to go really slow, ans struggles to keep up with where you want to go to on screen. I've unplugged and plugged back in and this seems to work for now.

The other reason is when I'm viewing the TV Guide and select a program the Program Synopsis is not available for anything. It works if you are just flicking through channels and not in the TV guide, or if a program has already recorded it works. Also if I select a program to record it never gives the option to series link it anymore?

Any ideas??? Really don't want to call sky and get through to India, they send out a engineer who replaces it and it costs me a fortune!

Thanks

Hi Jonny,
Sounds like there are gaps in your hard drive, A planner rebuild normally resolves this. Note when you go into the installer menu do not select full system reset as this will wipe your hard drive of any existing recordings, just go through the planner rebuild that should fix it, if not then you may have do do the full reset. if that fails to resolve then you will need to contact Sky.

I have had itvHD for nearly a year now 8)
Got a link on digitalspy forums to add as an extra channel.

Now on the failed recordings etc I had this for a wee while and Sky wanted 60 quid to come out and replace box, losing all my recordings etc.

Now I did a wee bit of research and Sky had a problem with initial versions of HD box (they have not admitted it though) The capacitors they used on the PSU (power supply unit) 19 of them were of a poor standard.
You can get a kit to replace these(I got someone to do it as Ive not soldered electrically for yonks) he took 30 quid inc kit and fitting.

Never lost recording and box is now different class!!! Faster EPG and no failed recording for 6 months

I did that too, but now simply use channel 178.

Pity that most of the material is not HD - although the football in HD is good.

Hmm when it comes to football I'd have to disagree. The picture quality on ITV is awful, I don't even bother watching footie on ITV any more unless I'm staying in a hotel and watching it on a 24" screen.

Interesting, might have to consider getting HD. Will many of the games be shown on Sky, had a look on the website but can't see any schedules or anything? Nosa do you know anything :D
