Size matters: 265 vs 275

Hi all,

So my Vredestein Ultrac Vorti R’s have stood up beautifully to my abuse, but after 30.000km’s they’re well past their best. Looking to replace the fronts and rears but have a few questions.

- The current fitment is a tad stretched, while I prefer a slightly meatier look. Fronts should clear 235 nicely (I know [ref]Street[/ref] has 235 Michelins on the front), rears I’m dubbing between 265 and 275. Perk of 275 and 235: identical total wheel diameter (I like the symmetry of equal height sidewalls). Will 275 clear at the rear considering the below specs?

- The Vredestein’s have done really well, but I’ve always been a fan of Michelin Pilot Sports 4S. Anyone any experience with the fitment of Michelin compared to Vredestein?

Front: 19x8.5J ET38
Rear: 19x9.5J ET43

Current tyres
Front: 225/35/19
Rear: 255/30/19

I don’t have much to add except that those rims look very exposed. They definitely need more rubber between rim and curb.

Don’t remind me… Still need to refurb my front right after not spotting a second curb stone placed next to the actual curb when parallelparking at my parent’s. Road workers had removed a few of them for construction, and decided placing them next to the actual curb was a smart move…

If you want the ‘best’ tyre currently and you are on 19” then Conti Sports Contact 7 edges MP4S and GY Assy 6 out..especially in the wet and compared to the Michelin on feel…certainly on the E89..

Short wear life maybe..

Thanks! It’s an ideal tool to compare wheels, slightly less to compare tyres since they differ from one brand to another, so hoping for some real life experience too :wink:

Ran GY Assy 5, MP4S, Conti Sport 5, Conti Sport 5P, Conti Sport 3 plus Chinese ditch finders and OE run flats …the SC7 is the best for the E89 by some way..IMHO..

I have 275/35 pilot super sport on the back and I love the look of them. The tyre wall fills the arch perfectly and the extra bonus is that the ride is better. On the front I have 235/35, with12mm spacers to fill the arch. I want to change these to something that matches the rear look and get rid of the spacers. I don’t like the stretched tyre look and prefer to see more rubber! I am thinking 240/35 but am just concerned that this won’t be a noticeable increase. As my fronts were brand new 4,000 miles ago I am reluctant to just swap them out. Anyway here is a picture to give you an idea of what the car looks like, I hope this helps.
