Simple question about fog lights

Can someone with a pre-facelift E85 confirm if it's possible to turn the rear fog light on independently of the front?

I've swapped my fuel pump relay with the fog lights to test a suspected faulty relay. I seem to remember being able to use the rear independent of the front but currently it's only working if the front light is on. I'm suspect the relay is the cause of my engine cutting out, I'm about to research the relay itself as perhaps it has two circuits running through it. I would go swap them back around but it's raining and I'd rather have a new relay in hand before I go to take the panel back off

Well they have separate switches so I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.
I think they only work with the lights on though?
Could be you have something weird going on in the LCM?

My thoughts exactly. I'm not bothered about the fogs, was just a quick way to test the fuel pump relay. I had the lights on but with this seemly duff relay the rear would only engage with the fronts on. Also makes a fairly loud clunk in comparison to the other.

Got a new relay on the way, will put the new one on the fuel pump and the old one back on the fog lights.

BMW specialist I gave it to 6 months ago clearly didn't have a clue when they told me they swapped the fuel pump relay when they were paid to troubleshoot the random engine stalls. I remember them pointing at the dark blue relay in the ebox and saying we've swapped it and now its working. Worked for the drive back and next day the issue returned... Relay they sold me was for the rear reversing light :headbang:

A reminder to check what people are telling you, even if they are specialists!
