As discussed in the related thread here... http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=35531

If Simota were to create a carbon intake for the Z4M - comparable to the one they currently make for the M3 - would you buy one? Assume a price-point of £300 inc for now.

The poll options are very simple... if you're a "maybe", "I'd have to sell my existing intake first", etc - no need to respond to the poll :) though your comments are welcome below!

Definitely, but if it's £301 then I'd have to have a think.

think thats still a pretty decent price.... for some reason the z4m commands futher ///M tax when buying aftermarket parts, or parts in general.

I've edited my post to add the smiley I missed the first time

£300 is a fair price for an intake, I'd have one! Gruppe M is lovely, but too expensive for what it is. If they can replicate the sound of the Gruppe M whilst minimising heat soak I'm sure it will be a winner.

my friends z4mc has a AFE intake and im not sure how these carbon ones fair but its REALLY boomy..... sounds awesome no doubt, but i was surprised just how much induction noise these things make, it was very noisey, enough to make our conversation over Bluetooth useless.... would it bother me?? no i dont think it would, but everyday it would definitely wear thin.

Really? That surprises me. My experience with induction upgrades has been you only really get the noise when you put your foot down, crusing there isn't much? Is that not the case with the S54 then?

yes for me. I am desperate for a good noise mod for the summer, gruppe m too rich for me though, and i want to keep my car 100% stock on the outside, so no exhaust

yeah thats the case, but as much as you cruise you use the gas pedal just as much really, therefore ....... well you get the idea.

More noise whilst retaining the OEM look? For £80 have you seen the bypass mod a lot on here are having done?

I have seen it. I may go down that route if nothing comes of this.

Thanks for all the interest so far! Encouraging. Of course, there's a market for these globally, but a good showing of support /here/ will help convince Simota that they'd sell enough of the product to offset the design/prototyping/production setup costs.

I'll let it run for another week, then go back to them and see where they are prepared to take it...

If its up to 300 squid ish, sounds good and doesn't have a detrimental affect on performance I'll have one.

Could probably talk a mate into one too.

They need to hurry up though, I want to do something for the summer.... ie - if it's not available in the next couple of months it'll be too late for me and i'll have done something else
