Simota carbon intake

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry if this has been covered before! I have searched, but there has been a lot of talk about intakes and induction kits on here. As we all know they're rather pricey, but I have heard talk of the E46 M3 Simota intake (http://www.ppcgb.com/BMW/3-Series-E46-M3-2001-07/Simota-Air-Induction-Kits/pt697_1583_-cma578-cmo1226/) fitting the Z4M. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I have sent an email to Simota, but I just wanted to check to see if anyone on here has experience with this?

Oh, and I know some people think they're a waste of money...and it won't give me any extra bhp...but to me it will just make an already incredible car just that little bit more incredible :)

Thanks in advance for any help

If it's purely for the noise, then simply remove your current airbox and stick a cone filter on. Should cost you no more than £50.

No point paying an extra £300-£1000 for something that does no better.

^ Worse even. The OEM airbox is probably more efficient than the Gruppe M.

I alread posed this question to Simota. They would consider making an airbox but would need a car to design and trial.

OEM airbox is very good, I had a good look at this setup on the M and the only two areas that dont look good are the plastic shroud at the air infeed and the very restrictive mesh screen before the flow sensor
has anybody ever removed the screen and sensor and run with the Alfa N tune with the standard box?

Sorry to bardge in onto the subject: Some tuners seem to have adapted a CSL full CF intake. I've searched this forum for definite answer but its a little short.

Has anyone doen this + an Alpha N tune as Alfamale describes?

Yes it's been done several times, the cost of a CSL carbon fibre intake is about £2000 though. The Alpha N tune can be done by the likes of Evolve and several others.

I'd love to get the CSL induction noise from my car, just don't want a noddy 50 quid cone filter kit in the engine bay.

Gruppe-M isn't identical obviously, but it's some way towards the CSL bark.

there is a k+n induction kit for the m3 at about £200,dont know if it will fit though seems you are paying for the curved pipe that houses the air sensor, other than that get a panel filter and remove the lower part of the airbox, same principal but you keep the shaped trumpet inside the intake head.

he's running a Mass air flow on that box, their are some that use the stock MAF then some that are proper CSL style alpha n management..
having had the pleasure of drivning a CSL, i can honestly say that repsonse from that motor is awesome.....the noise, the throttle response, truely awesome imo......

The big power r35 GTR's are now using Alpha N managment style , they call them Speed density tunes which removes the MAF.s and uses temp sensors ect ect
