Silverstone Classic 2015 - 24/25/26 July

As per the other thread (sorry for the duplicate!) I'll be there - do come say hi;

James
Z4MR Interlagos
EWO reg plate

Will be there all weekend from Friday at 1pm! Camping in Woodlands too this year, having been lucky enough to be in The Farm on previous occasions!

Lots of cracking cars to walk around and some to drool over! iIf i remember right one of the race drivers last year overturned his car and he died later, hope nothing
like that happens again.
I'v always done the Friday and Saturday for some reason, seems like quite a few stay for the finals on Sunday.

Weather forecast is hopeful for the event so far !!?

Is it? Heavy rain forcast for Friday and Sunday with heavy rain until 4am on Saturday morning. Sounds like under foot might be a bit squishy.

I'm taking my bright orange wellies as I think I'll need them.

Hi Tony, I'm going, shame about the weather, but Saturday looks OK. Anyone else parking with the BMW car club?

Any Z4 groups planning to meet up on Saturday morning for Silverstone?

I'm in Milton Keynes so an easy little run up the A5 via a cheeky stop at the Super Sausage Cafe :-)

I guess we will turn up show infield pass and then see either bmw cc area or zed4 forum parking.
Hopefully see others there .

Pretty long day for the Alpina guys, I think it was 18:20 when they got on track. Good job it was a nice day. If it had been the same as Friday, I doubt people would have stuck around.

Good turn out from all the BMW clubs

Anyone on here? Getting ready for the 25th SS Classic parade lap. Currently doing the full Audi thanks to how close the Quattro now parked in front reversed back.

I went on Friday and boy was it awful, peed down all day! Saturday's weather was good and met up with an old pal who still races
at 69 yrs of age. I think Silverstone has lost its shine, i keep comparing to the zedfest year which was brill. Cant see me going again
now for a while. They called us over for the parade lap at 5pm and we were still hanging around an hour and half later! poor organisation.
Someone said that to go in for the Silver lap it would cost £80, (gasp) Home now didn't want another wet day in there.

We had a fantastic day yesterday (Saturday) - highlights included the BMW turnout; meeting some very enthusiastic Alpina owners; free goes on the Ferris wheel; an absolutely stunning display of historic cars from Porsche, some of which (as a long-time Porschephile) I had only seen in books; so many Ferraris, NSX's and Lamborghinis than even I eventually got bored looking at them, and to top it all off a great set from Status Quo (who were "my" band in school - I first saw them in 1976!)

Only downside was the overpriced poor-quality food that was on sale - £6 for a hot dog in a stale roll - and the total lack of organisation by Silverstone for the traffic entering. How on earth do they cope with a Grand Prix there? (Not referring to the guy - sorry, but no idea who it was - who showed us where to park when we eventually got to B8. He was great.)

We stayed over at the Holiday Inn Express, planning to return today. Sadly the weather was so wet that we decided that there just wouldn't be any fun in walking around in the rain, and we had already seen most of what we wanted, so we gave up and headed home.

Good weekend but weather was absolutely kak again today, in fact around 3ish they advised there would be no more racing due to the rain and continuing weather and a lot of people packed up, come 4pm it was back on but a lot of people had already departed which was a shame. We were there until 5:15pm but taking down the stands and getting race cars loaded up in the rain isn't much fun but something that needs to be done. Incidentally it did get lighter and even brighten up slightly.

The people who paid their money for the 25th anniversary lap were robbed. We were on our stand (GTROC) at 7:50am and there was already about 30 cars already lined up, but they didn't actually get to go round until 1:30pm ish IIRC. I, personally would have been livid at that. You can't keep people around for that length of time.

For anyone there, I was in the Bright Orange wellies on Friday and today. There was a few Z4's in the parade. I saw 2 E89s, the one above and a 35i, a E86 ///M and a E85.

Loved the Alpinas and Mike fell in love with the 8 series, one of his all time favourites at the best of times.
