Silver/Black lined headlights

Am I right in thinking that the 3lt facelift (therefore all Coupes) only came with silver lined headlights?

if so has anyone got a photo of a black Z4 with black lined xenon headlights - as it would help me decide if I would like black lined headlights on my sapphire coupe. :-?

Hmm, thinks I could be looking for someone with black lined face lifted xenons to swap for silver lined xenons - maybe someone with a silver car. So maybe also need photos of silver car with black lined and silver lined to help someone decide the other way.

I don't think a black-innered xenon headlight exists for post-facelift, only pre-facelift, which doesn't work :idunno:

Yeah - not sure but these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/bmw-z4-headlights-pair-/230588412504?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b023f258 seem to be black lined post-facelift if they indeed come from a 2008 - not sure if they are xenon but I've asked.

edit - just seem his other photo of the label that says H7 so they're not xenon.

OK another related question. Does anyone know if you can swop halogen and xenon innards over? The lights on ebay are halogen so if I could put my xenon innards in them I could resell mine with the halogen innards.

just spray the inners if you split them, i did this on my 330ci sprayed the inner lenes as they were silver

Wow - that's a solution - I didn't know you could split them.

don't hold me to that, i don't know you can or not, but cant imagine why not? as they were easily splittable on the e46.

Fairly hard to spilt, Cj has done it so try searching "how to" but most cut them open

Thanks for the info - I don't really want to go to the extreme of cutting them open.
From the responses I guess I'm not sure if there are black lined post-facelift xenon lights or if they are all silver lined.

Based on Steve's link above and had a look at ksher's old car, I think they do exist as black inners, but there is only one part number, which was making me think they would only be chrome.

Thanks Mike - I thought they did exist. Just seems strange that BMW went for silver for the 3lt and seemingly black for 2 and 2.5.

That's what they do, same for the grill, black up to 2.5, then silver for 3.0 except ///M gets black grill.
