Sidetrim renewal..

Hello.
I'm changing part nr. 14. Has seen better days.

How do you get it off?
I've figured out how to pull the tiny plastic lugs out, but then its glued with doublesided tape.
Dare I use some heat?

If it's double sided tape, it should be similar to removing badges - it's usually easy enough to cut through lengthways using a bit of fishing line (or similar tough plastic/nylon that won't scratch paint)

Once the trim is off you can remove the remainder using some sticky stuff remover

Can't help I'm afraid, but let me know the solution please :)
I've been planning to do this for a while, mine looks pretty rough too.
Thanks

If that's the window trim, looking kind of grey and whiteish, I used a pencil eraser on it to remove the built up residue. Then I applied some armor all. Looks nearly new.
Took a little time but results made me happy.

Ah! Thanx.
Well I've already bought a new one and the old one never sat exactly right in pos. So it will have to go. :)

The old bits of stickytape came off with more heat and meticuosly scrubbing. Very very boring job. Got a sore thumb nail now.

Last bits of glue cleaned off with heat + spirit in a cloth.

Old vs. new

Matched the rear end against rear rubber trim.

Going forward matching each rivet hole for correct position

Put the plastic rivet pins back in place (whatever function they have..)

Using the old credit card push the rubber seal back in place along the new trim. Done!
