Sidelights

Hi guys, Newb here.
Can I change the sidelights to LED without any detriment. I know on my 435 the LEDs bring a fault up if they are not re-coded.

Unless you have "CANBUS compatible" ones they will trigger a bulb out warning and put dim indicators on. They also seem to have short lifespans (as the LED package has 4W of heat to dissipate in a very small area).

My suggestion is to use a set of Philips or OSRAM W5W LEDs and code out the checks (if you just code out the dash check they will flicker when tested). Someone local may be able to help, or you can use Carly. I've had mine for 3+ years with no issues.

I am guessing I would need a lead: OBD to TCP/IP and download Carly? I had some coding done on my 435, but haven't done it myself

I changed mine to LED about three yrs ago,no coding required.

I don't suppose you can remember the make of the LEDs by any chance?

I can't remember ,these look ok.LED bulbs only work one way,so you might have to swap them around in the holder

Cheers Russell. Much appreciated. I have ordered CANBUS version, so might be ok.
Is there anything else worth coding on the Z4?

Dave, I think I've done my headlight washers and see me home lights. I coded in a double flash hazards but coded out again.
A bit gimmicky and not worth the money really but hey ho...
