Hey! First post here. I figured this was a decent place to post, since it isn't very how-to ish. Anywho:
The side turn indicators on my e85 z4 are peeling. One is, anyway. I read that it was just a decal that is stuck on, so I ordered this: Genuine BMW Plaque With Adhesive Film D=82mm (part # 36131181104 ). It should fit the indicator, but it doesn't seem to. It seems a bit too big. Perhaps I'm installing it wrong. I removed the thin little roundel 'decal' thing that was peeling off, and I went to apply the new decal....and wow, it sure seems a bit too big. It takes up about the entire diameter of the housing unit for the turn indicator, covering up the little shiny faux chrome plastic bezel around. Perhaps even a tiny bit larger than that.
What more, I also found this actual non-decal emblem that is supposed to fit the side turn indicator housing of an e85 z4: (part #
51147057794 ).
Anyway, what I'm wondering is......should that decal fit perfectly within the area bound by the shiny bezel of the side turn indicators? If it should, I think the only way it will seem to want to fit it is if I kind of tuck the circumference of the decal in first within the shiny bezel, but that would cause the middle to bow outward, I assume.
Also, would the non-decal emblem I provided the parts number work as an alternative? I'm not sure if people frown upon the idea of a wonky decal going over the old removed one vs installing an all-new emblem.
