Side skirts stone chip problem!

I have noticed a potential paint issue on the new Z4. :?

Now I have been doing some "enthusiastic" driving around Wales for 2 days last week, but there is already some stone chipping on the side skirts in front of the rear wheels! This was a problem on my last Z4 but it looks like it could be worse on this new one! I'll wait until after the winter and get it smart repaired if it's any worse then fit a clear bra to the area!

I had the same problem, although Wales had nothing to do with it. :)

Bought a piece of clear plastic film from http://www.premierpaintguard.com. Cut to the shape you want. Easy install, invisible.

Fit the small (and perfectly formed) BMW mudflaps. Problem cured. AND NO I don't have any photos as I am away from home at the moment!

Do they do them for the second gen Z4?

Ah, just found a post on another forum! May get the front ones, but those rears!! :|

Not shown on the website so a quick call to the dealer I think.

I am not crazy about the look of them either, however, I live in a rural area of the mountains and the local governments up here add aggregates, (cinders), to their salt slurry when deicing snow and ice in the winter. That mixture acts like a sand blaster coming off the wheels. Much of that cinder remains on the road edges well into the summer, so chipping is a big issue on most any car. Clear stoneguard film does a respectable job, but I use both. A big advantage of the flaps is it cuts down the huge plume of spray coming off the rear end in the rain and keeps the rear, (below the deck lid spoiler) of the car cleaner.
