Side mirror glass not heating up on one side

Hi all,

Noticed on my new-to-me Z4M that the passenger side mirror doesn't heat up. After doing some Googling I've found it could be that the two wires that connect to the backside of the mirror glass have come undone.

I found a YouTube video that shows how to remove the glass, but on my car the plastic ring that you're suppose to turn with a flat blade screwdriver just flops about and doesn't release the glass when it's turned, leading me to think that the glass has been glued back on in some way in the past. It's the same on both wing mirrors.

Anyone come across this issue before / have any recommendations for how I could get the glass off?

Thanks,
Simon

Sometimes from the factory they have sticky pads on the back. You need a metal hook tool to slowly pull with quite a lot of force to get them off. You need to 100% be correct that plastic ring is in the correct position first before pulling.

You could check the wiring connector inside the door. If you pull the window switch out and then reach inside hopefully you can grab the door mirror wiring loom and pull the connection apart and then look at the pins for corrosion.

Consider that the glass has already been replaced with a non-heated piece of glass. Does it dim with your other mirrors?
The glass on an E85 door mirror isnt heated, there's a heatpad behind the glass which does that job. The heat pad is still there as they are referring to the ring that does nothing which is part of the heat pad.

Neither side mirror dims with my rear view mirror, but I have a feeling both side mirrors have been replaced since the locking rings flop around and don’t release the glass on both sides
