Side Mirror control switch on E85

I have a 2004 E85 2.5i. The control which operates the external mirrors is 90 degrees out of alignment so if you press to bring a mirror in, it goes down! Very irritating especially as my wife and I have very different driving positions and so we are frequently adjusting the mirrors. I'm sure the switch has been re-connected after a repair to the window mechanism (before my time with the car) and can easily be restored to its proper orientation, provided I can get at the back of it.

My problem is how to remove the panel containing the mirror and window controls. Can I just prise it out or must I remove the door panel? It looks like it an be prised out but I'm reluctant to use too much force......

Can anyone please advise?

Pop it from the front first, it levers up and out

You’ll see how it comes apart it’s v easy

If you get down to the part where you are right into the internals be aware it does pop open and spray parts everywhere but it’s fairly intuitive where it all goes

Prise it up gently from the front first. Not right on the front corner though as it may snap.
Once the front is up you can carefully tilt it up so the rear end clears the trim and it should lift out.
Two electrical plugs to disconnect.
