Its not something i have noticed before (but now its bothering me) but the side light bulbs on my car are really yellow, anybody upgraded to a 'whiter' bulb?

i dont want anything blue and chavvy, just a sharp white light !

my car is a late 2003 3.0i with xenons if that helps !

thanks in advance...

You can get the canbus ok led lights, but you can see them quite clearly when you look at the headlight. Bit fugly IMO. Or the xenon look blue 501 bulbs are pretty good :)

yeah, found an image showing the led bulb, agree it looks a bit strange. might have a look at the others you suggest chris - thanks !

anybody know what bulb type they are?

I have some philips blue vision sidelight bulbs, give a whiter light than the oem ones but look blue when they are off.

LED would be good if they were not so damn ugly

Got them here too - came free when I bought some uprated Philips headlight bulbs a couple of years ago. Certainly an improvement in getting away from the yellow look.

In an AutoExpress test the Bosch equivalents (to the Philips Xtreme) came out slightly better
Either makes a BIG difference to the lighting

Thats good to hear - I've got the Philips Xtreme bulbs installed and just want some sidelights to match the white light now. Has anyone got a link to what I'm looking for on ebay?

had a look at the access hatch to get to the bulbs, (havent bought any yet-just checking the access) and i think the combination of adding larger wheels & lowered springs means i am going to have to remove the wheels !. bummer.

after a trip to my local halfrauds this saturday i will soon find out. i might even post pictures as well, i have a quiet chilled out this weekend for the first time in ages so plan to make the most of it...

Lowered springs and 18"s here and absolutely no problems with access hatch here. You turning the wheel fully to the side that you're trying to access? Not sure if you're running 18" or 19" but either way I can't understand it being any more difficult than mine...?

I received the philips blue vision sidelight bulbs free also when I order the main bulbs, haven't put them in yet as worried by the blue ness of them in the packet but maybe I will try them.

I'm rolling on 19's with a 235 wide tyre. will report back when I've had a proper look in daylight !

looks as if they will yeah.

changed mine today for some whiter bulbs - complete waste of time as they are not that white.

What a job ! yeah, easy to get the panel off once the wheel is on full lock as everybody says, but then nobody mentioned that you had to move the metal wire to get the back box off. then you have to work blind to thread the new bulb into the hole which you cant see because you have to bend your arm round, then the light back box hardly fits back on for all the kit that in the area - nightmare.

The cooperS also required a new bulb and that took me less than 20 seconds to remove, and that included unlocking the car and lifting the bonnet. The work experience guy who worked that afternoon at bmw who also designed the roof motor housing must be laughing his tits of now.

When u say 'whiter' bulbs do you mean bulbs that look blue when their off? (like a blue tint effect). I think to match the HID Kit I might just have to get some LED sidelights. Any recommendations? Or pictures?

Yeh Changing the lights on the Z4 has to be one of the hardest methods I've seen on a car... Oh well.
