Side BMW Badge

Anyone got any pics from above looking directly down at their BMW side badges please? I noticed my BMW side badges are protruding a little from the bodywork. Is this normal? :?

I am going to attempt replacing mine along with new LCI indicators tomorrow so any tips would be much appreciated...

I think the lci indicators have a locating tab that needs breaking off if fitting to a pre lci car :?

Rob you are a star!!! Thanks :D

I am guessing a bit of dental floss (with care) should do the the trick of removing the old badge?

Yep I've had the tab taken off at the paint shop. I've just found a tutorial on another Z forum posted by TitanTim I think so I'll follow that for the indicators.

Pics to follow tomorrow

*Update*

Indicators = All done & very happy

Side Badge = Don't ask! One word D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R

Take my advice.. If your badges aren't too shabby.. under no circumstances do not attempt to replace. :headbang:

They look sleek don't they  what happened to the badge? Did you try & separate the badge from its backplate?

Cheers - Im chuffed with them matey. Made a huge difference, kind of meaner and blend well colour wise..

Re: Side badge.. Nope everything was going so well  until the final release. The side of the badge chipped my paint :x :o

So replacement badge was going to cost £38 but now it will cost £100+. :(

Back to the original poster's question - I noticed on my recently acquired 2009 35i that the side badges are protruding too - and then someone else pointed it out to me, so now it's bugging me.

I'm reluctant to try to push it flush with the bodywork - I've made a half hearted attempt to push it flush, but don't want to cave in the wing :D

Is this the norm for all Z4s and I should get over it?

Cheers!
Andy

I replaced the side badges recently. The trick to removing them is to 'back them out' evenly, I used two flat+thin plastic pry tools simultaneously on each side, putting paper towel underneath them to protect the paint. I used some light lubrication on the new badge posts to help push them in all the way and seated properly.

Thanks Cees,

That's a great tip, I will now add that correction to the list of things to do after the sun stops shining.

Cheers!
Andy
