I've just given up.

The country I happen to live in is not even a Christian country, yet the commercial areas are full-on Christmas decorated as soon as the Halloween decorations come down. It is purely and simply a commercial exercise, nothing more. By the time December rolls around I'm so sick of flashing lights and Santas and sleighs trying to sell me stuff that I honestly couldn't be bothered.

Halloween is a relatively new discovery over here too. A decade or so ago hardly anybody even knew what it is, but as soon as somebody figures out it's another way to sell stuff it becomes a yearly "tradition." Ask the average bloke on the street what Halloween or Christmas actually means and they have no flippin' idea.

At least they haven't discovered thanksgiving yet, although I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

You're all stark raving bonkers, the lot of you

i must admit the outside lights are up - but not on - took the chance of the mild weather yesterday to get them up along the gutter - this year they are iphone powered using a belkin thingy - quite strange switching them on or off from the iphone on the drive. :o

However, that's very cool indeed - linky please :D

driven SWMBO mad with it

I like that idea! Nothing worse than struggling behind the tv for the switch!

Nothing here as yet... going Real Tree hunting on Sunday morning. God knows when I'll have time to actually get it decorated etc

Some really nice efforts. Not done mine yet - job for this weekend.

I had to fell a large tree yesterday and after shredding/chipping the smaller bits I was left with lots of logs and branches:

Felt a bit creative so spent an hour with the petrol chainsaw and a couple of wood drills/chisels and out emerged the following:

Need to do a bit of adjustment and get Mrs CJ to add a red scarf or something, but was pleased as a first effort.
