Nice old stack there Lar.

Amazing how a lot of electrical kit from the 80/90s just keeps on working. The stuff you get these day is lucky to work for five years. We still use our original Pioneer stack from back then pretty much every day :D

Ta lar!
Well, tape devices aren’t exactly maintenance-free unfortunately. They still require a fair bit of maintenance and upkeep.
The Dragon was serviced in 2017 with all new rubber bits, re-capped and re-calibrated at a cost of €800 :o by the former owner so it should be good for at least another 10 years.

I have some other decks and walkmans which I’ll be servicing/repairing myself so that should keep me busy.
You got a tapedeck in ur Pioneer stack?
Here you go Chris, remembers to snap a quick pic tonight. The most reliable electrical item we ever bought. It quite literally gets used every day, as it provides the sound from the TV. Though not the tape decks, or top deck, as we like our CDs.

IMG_20200330_192318.jpg
Nice!
Have you tried using the tapedeck recently?
I can sort you out with some nice tapes if you ever get the urge...

Your tapes are safe mate.

The most amazing bit I forgot to mention. The remote still works perfectly after all these years. We must be on out third remote for the various Samsung TV's dotted about the place, drop one on the floor a few times and they never work again. The Pioneer remote has been thrown accross the lounges of five houses since we bought it and just simply works. :D

I got called to a customer who had the same thing, his combi kept loosing pressure, he had a leak under the screed floor in the living room. Leaks will only get worse if left.

Thanks for scaring me  I've run the heating this morning and it still seems fine. Though I will keep popping up to the loft periodically to check the pressure level.

Now I know why my boiler installer advised against my 85 year old grandad having his boiler installed in the loft  Thank god I'm still relatively young!

Doesn't mean you don’t have a leak Ben, if it’s dripping occasionally it could take a few days to a week or two to drop enough pressure to stop the boiler firing again.

Fingers crossed of course....
Sorry for scaring you Ben, just what I have experienced with pressure drops in a combi. If you had it fitted in Jan, I would get the firm back who did it and check their fittings if it drops again.
You can check if there is any air left in any of the rads, it could be air moving around? check that its not discharging out of the overflow pipe too, could be dripping.
But a drop does normally point to a leak somewhere

Drove over to my workshop for some PPE gear and while there I noticed my old toaster lurking under a bench.

A 4 slice Kitchenaid 5KMT 4205 BMS with a broken temp lever and one side not heating....... I wonder.... :)

Back home and out with the multimeter .. complete strip down.(amazing design)

Ended up plastic welding the lever and fixing the element with stainless steel lock wire...

all surfaces inside and outside cleaned and chrome metal polished. looks like new....

Is a remote temp reader possible, young man? :poke:

God knows, but that sounds like a great idea  currently I only have the lcd display on the boiler. Only reason I knew there was an issue yesterday was because I switched the heating on via my hive app and 2 hours later the house was still cold  I can't hear the boiler 'firing up' like I used to when it was in my kitchen.

Lookup an Arduino with a LoRa module, costs about a tenner but can transmit using a sensor anything you want to know. As long as you are happy using a PC to program it via a USB cable

In the back garden...

Started hedgelaying as a means of “gapping up” a neglected old hawthorn hedgerow.

Definitely underestimated the skill required. Luckily there’s a name for c*cking it up and changing plan, which is “coppicing”.

Well with the sudden improvement in the weather I decided it was definitely time to swap the winters on my 3 Series for the summers.

No photos sadly, but as both sets of rims are the same it wouldn't look any different!

Wheel arches. You can’t see them, but I know they’re clean. Not too bad for a 13 year old car either :D

Wife and I are helping a guy who is making face shields for first responders who cannot get enough PPE. I fired up the old 3D printer and we're making face shield halos today

Well done, they look great! That's going to be my next job...

In the meantime, I'm getting rid of rust in the rear brake shields painting the brake calipers (F+R)

Insulated the garage door to keep the Z warm and built a 911 to go with the other models.

Been tidying up my garden path with all the extra time I’m spending at home, started by digging the edges back with a spade, ordered in a hippo bag of sand/gravel and a couple of hundred bricks for the edging.
It’s easier to mow without the crumbling edges but i think my backs now caved in

Looking good, SB. You are industrious ! I see the inspector on the job site. I take it she approves. :D
I'm still making the face shield halos... the collective group has made and distributed 7500 shields to first responders. Our contribution is just a drop in the bucket but it makes us feel good.
