Looking good there SB. Doesn't look like any roof supports? What will it cover with?

Had a few more parts to install, 3 auto windows & some bracing. Just finishing the toughened glass glazing today

Yesterday I finally got the roof bars delivered that I won on ebay at the beginning of march. The idea was that we were going to go to Scotland over Easter to visit her family, but I highly doubt that's going to happen now :headbang:

Chucked them on the car anyway to make sure they fit and function. I wrongly assumed I could still use the sunroof to it's full function, especially as they're genuine Mercedes bars. Unfortunately you can only tilt the sunroof up now, it can't be slid back, so I'll have to remove them when they're not being used :x

They sit a fair bit higher than other roofbars aswell, so look a bit odd. Oh well, I suppose I could well them in and get my money back.

That looks like a great hothouse. Are those roof vents automatic operation? I assembled one many years ago that used a gas shock where the gas expanded with temperature and opened the top windows a bit to let the heat out.

Hi Scootr, yes 3 auto roof vents. We finished glazing this morning and I’ve now retreated to let mrs smartbear claim ownership

Boiler decided to throw a wobbly today, cue me getting up into the loft in my boxer shorts trying to figure out what was wrong

Yes it was absolutely freezing!

Had a new combi installed in the loft in January, so wasn't expecting any major issues. It had lost most of its pressure (showing 0.5 bar). Had a quick Google of the fault code and reset it. Then I opened the valves and repressurised it way too much (3.5 bar with heating off) :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: Ended up draining a fair amount of water from a radiator to get it back to normal.

Unsure why my Vaillant was showing an F22 fault in the first place, but I hope it doesn't happen again! Didn't want to call my installer, as tbh I don't fancy anyone coming into the house currently. Oh well, fixed for now

Quick photo, because everyone loves photos. I've insulated the pipes since this was taken.

Be wary of the pressure drop with a combi , generally indicates a leak somewhere so worth a visual over any accessible pipework/fittings .

I'm fairly sure the right valve underneath the boiler was in the 'open' position slightly, whereas the left valve was fully closed off. I remember playing about with these a few days after installation as he told me to check and adjust the pressure accordingly, so I guess this could possibly be the culprit?

I've now closed both valves fully, so I'm hoping that solves the problem. If it does the same again, I'll definitely have to get matey out to have a look.

Indeed.....a mate of mine had to take his hallway wood floor up to get to a Speedfit elbow that a mouse had chewed through.....

I got called to a customer who had the same thing, his combi kept loosing pressure, he had a leak under the screed floor in the living room. Leaks will only get worse if left.

Thanks for scaring me  I've run the heating this morning and it still seems fine. Though I will keep popping up to the loft periodically to check the pressure level.

Now I know why my boiler installer advised against my 85 year old grandad having his boiler installed in the loft  Thank god I'm still relatively young!

Is a remote temp reader possible, young man? :poke:

God knows, but that sounds like a great idea  currently I only have the lcd display on the boiler. Only reason I knew there was an issue yesterday was because I switched the heating on via my hive app and 2 hours later the house was still cold  I can't hear the boiler 'firing up' like I used to when it was in my kitchen.

Doesn't mean you don’t have a leak Ben, if it’s dripping occasionally it could take a few days to a week or two to drop enough pressure to stop the boiler firing again.

Fingers crossed of course....

Been out on the bike in the sun today but apart from that I conducted a test I've been meaning to do for ages, which was to compare how different Sony Metal cassettes from the 80's and 90's sound.
Geeky? Definitely. Pointless? Absolutely. A waste of time? Indefatigably. But I suspect it may get more and more difficult to fill in those hours of social isolation. Hey ho.

Playing around with these...

Nice old stack there Lar.

Amazing how a lot of electrical kit from the 80/90s just keeps on working. The stuff you get these day is lucky to work for five years. We still use our original Pioneer stack from back then pretty much every day :D

Ta lar!
Well, tape devices aren’t exactly maintenance-free unfortunately. They still require a fair bit of maintenance and upkeep.
The Dragon was serviced in 2017 with all new rubber bits, re-capped and re-calibrated at a cost of €800 :o by the former owner so it should be good for at least another 10 years.

I have some other decks and walkmans which I’ll be servicing/repairing myself so that should keep me busy.
You got a tapedeck in ur Pioneer stack?
Here you go Chris, remembered to snap a quick pic tonight. The most reliable electrical item we ever bought. It quite literally gets used every day, as it provides the sound from the TV. Though not the tape decks, or top deck, as we like our CDs.
