Being the wrong side of 70, its lecci bikes for us , easier on the heart n joints :D
Don't blame you, I'm still in my mid 50's so can still push along @20mph+. But when I've matured a bit (no chance of that mentally) I'll go for electric as you can still cover the miles and get out and enjoy the views.

Loving the other bikes on this thread too. Shame there is isn't a like feature for posts on this forum like there is on others.

Came across a pic of my bike. May as well share it. :D

Wish the Zed was still in there with it sometimes. :(

I used to have a Raleigh Chopper
Spoiled git!
All the kids on our local Council estate had them, but I had a 'frankenstein's monster' of a Chopper look-a-like that my dad made from bits from the tip! Weirdly it made me quite cool among my peers.

I realised at 16 I could have a bicycle with a 50cc engine. As I lived on top of one the Chilterns hills, it was a far better option for me. So I went with that and have never looked back.

I did have an 'Eddy Merckx' 10 speed racer when I was 11. Does that count?

My chopper was a hand me down so not exactly spoiled :P
I too gave up on peddle power when I was 16 and got a Honda MBX50 after saving up my first few wages.
Haven't been on a push bike since and never will.

I had an AR50 and same here. Same as I haven't been on a bus since I left school and never will again.
Lycra was never a good look for me, either. :poke:
Sorry OP. :D

My best mate had a Chopper, was quite jealous at first until one rainy day his foot slipped off the pedal and duly impaled himself on the gear selector. Realised then why it was called a Chopper

Tim.

Yes, Mrs G could ride my Harry Quinn. She has very long strong legs.

I'm firmly in the boat that it doesn't matter what you ride as long as you are happy and getting out there.

I just as happy riding my £9,000 Canyon as I was on my £500 MTB when I first got back into it.

I'm much faster, stronger now and then I rode 6 miles twice a week and now I do about 150-200 most weeks. That £500 bike would only a few months now before it felt apart.

Enjoy.

Thanks it feels good to get out, and now that my oldest is riding proficiently she’s really gotten into hitting local gravel trails.

Also a leccy bike convert.

I found my standard MTB hard to ride with arthritis but my e-bike means I can get out for 20 -30k no problem.

Genesis something-or-other gravel bike, because I hate riding on main roads and the back roads in Kent are not so skinny tyre friendly. Got it in May 2021, go out most Sunday mornings and have done about 4.5k miles on it - though mileage has tailed off recently. Only thing I’ve really done to it is a cheeky brake upgrade. It’s actually responsible for me driving my Z much less

I do however have a bike rack that I’ve used a couple of times. Lots of moving bits are secured and there are soft rubber pads under the feet… but let’s see what kind of reaction this gets :fuelfire:

One for Rockhopper... my three old Rockhoppers. The silver one was bought new and was a geared commuter bike for weekend off-road, before becomng a single speed commuter bike. The red one was bought as in the photo for peanuts and became a 9 speed, fully rigid "fun bike" for the street, and the blue one was my main MTB for a while.
