18" rims do seem to look too small on E89's

+1

Quite bizarrely on the E85 I think this is also true, but only with aftermarket wheels.
I think the 107 & 108 etc BMW wheels look fine but as soon as you go to aftermarket CSL's etc they look small in 18" and really you need the 19"

So they would come off the rim?

Exactly, apparently alloys designed for RFT's have a higher lip (EH2+) to prevent the tyre coming off once deflated or so I've just read

So....

What actually happens if you get a puncture in an RFT on an aftermarket rim ?

Guess only a direct experience of it happening would tell you the answer to that ?

I found this pretty cool Android/apple app called '3d tuning'. You can mod different cars and try different wheels. It's has an e89. Sadly no e85/e86. Good to get an idea of different wheel styles!!

CSL'S don't suit the E89 so don't go there..!!

Can't say I agree with that, although I might be slightly biased.

Totally agree CSL's look great on a e89. You need the 19's ! I have 18's winter set up on mine looks ok but 19's would be nicer.

Love the colour cerbera, looks very nice.

Wheels look a bit fussy on an E89 imho but hey you like them so that's great, each to their own, would'nt do if we all liked the same thing.

Mine are 235/35R19 on the front and 265/30R19 on the rear.
I wasn't clear but "they" was the rear tyres. 245/40R18 just fit in just but there's only 1 or 2mm clearance at full lock so I'll move to 245/35R18 at some point.

Same size as mine :)

Still undecided on alloys , may have to stump up for non Run flat tyres such as MPSS so I'm not restricted on wheel choice

I'll keep the old ones for if and when I ever sell up
