Shoutout to Peter at Autotech: £25 for autologic/codes etc..

Just wanted to add that I've been down to Peter at Autotech today and got my roof done. My car was manufactured in August 2003 and works perfectly without a problem. Ive stood 5-6 metres from the side of the car and it worked a treat and continued working as I walked towards the car. Not tried it out from further away this was just in my garden at home. Great feature :)

Also had added the seat memory for seperate keys. As soon as I unlock the car with key number 1 its goes to my seat position. Open the car with key 2 and it goes to that persons seating position.

Passenger 1 touch down.

Beep when opening and locking as well as indicator flash when locking and unlocking.

All for £25. If you haven't been down and you are local I highly recommend it

Does anyone know of a clone of Peter Thorpe at Autotech down South ..

Key programming  400 mile round trip

A guy on another forum is ringing his local place in Windsor tomorrow because he thinks they have the software. I'll let you know. (If thats anywhere near you?)

Hi guys,
just want to give a shout out for Peter Thorpe at Autotech performance. I went there today to get my car coded after work with his Autologic kit. He waited for me until i got there...i was a bit late, but he waited.. :D

£25 is a steal! I'd also found AutoLogic in Hull who were quoting £75+ for various options to be set. Telford is a much nicer drive from Manchester (Shropshire's a lovely part of the world, I have relatives in Ludlow) and it'll save me a few quid too, bargain!

I believe that the above file contains a full list of the possible options for an E85 Z4 according to BMW, however, It sounds like there are additional options that the AutoLogic software can do in addition to those. Interestingly the BMW tech stuff seems to point to the fact that BMW consider those options to be an essential part of the BMW owning experience and that dealers should perform those changes for free. Perhaps that's only included if you're already paying for a service or when the car is initially delivered - it may be worth asking a dealer to see if they'll do it for free, you never know...

My passenger windows are already one-touch and my roof goes down - but I think I'll be taking a trip to see Peter so it will go up remotely too - thanks for posting the contact Don!

No worries.
I also got my CDV removed a few weeks ago. Best money I ever spent. The car Is super smooth and swift now.

Was that at the same place?

That would be worth a trip to have it all done at once... We should get a forum meet-up going at the same time, give us all something to do whilst the Z's get tweaked! :)

Yes, same place. I got the CDV and coding done on different days. I was not aware of the CDV issue before i went for the coding.

In total i think it cost around £35.00 - Thats is £25 for coding and £10 for the CDV.

CDV was a 10 min job..

Specialist Vehicles in Plymouth have just claimed to be able to do this as well - they quoted me £35+vat.

I used Peter to programme the roof and I would certainly use him to service the car if I could escape the BMW network. He seems to know a lot about our engines and is a top bloke.

We had some coding done and a full inspection 2 service a few weeks back. Peter was great, I can't recommend him highly enough. We dropped the car in at 9am on a Saturday and Peter ran us into Telford and picked us up again at 3pm. The service was great with Peter spending plenty of time to talk you through the work you were having done. The total bill was £274 for an insection 2 with brake fluid and coolant change including the coding work. We had roof up and down on the key fob, light flash on lock/unlock, one shot passenger window, selective central locking, both keys seat memory and 3 flash indicators. The best thing for us was the care they took with the car, there was still covers on the seats, steering wheel, gear knob and carpet when we got back to collect the car and no damage or greasy fingerprints anywhere. A big thumbs up from us, we will certainely trust all our future work to them.

I'd like to chime in for him too. I recently brought my car in for a clunking in the front suspension area to Peter over in Telford. I'm also booked in to get poly bushings towards the end of the month. This guy was awesome, I mentioned that I found him on the forum and chatted him up about everything cars and things I can do to make mine go faster.
He showed me what was clunking....it was my anti-roll bar link, real simple to change. I got to talking about the CDV and he asked me if I wanted to do the mod that everyone raves about. So I said sure. He also asked if I wanted to have a look at the computer and all the code stuffs (partially to see if his unit would interface with a US spec car). It all worked, cool thing to note - I had been mistaken, I thought that early build 2003 models could not put the roof down via key remote. NOT SO! So now I have a US spec 2003 that I can put the roof up or down with the key!!!! GO ME! The best part of all this is, It cost me all of 22 pounds!!! I'll probably bring my car to him for everything now 8)

This peter sounds like quite a guy!
Bet he cant huula-hoop as good as i can tho!!

I doubt he could handle the Blue Flash either!

Seriously though, hearing lots of good things about him so I'll have to get my arse in gear and get over to get my roof up coding done too! :)

Do you get a different key or just different combinations to open n close things? sounds helpful though!

Joe.

You get a different combination. The interface on that little electronic doodad is way cool and super duper simple to understand. Even easier than a MAC. I also forgot to mention that he changed my passenger window so that it's one touch of the button to put it up!

Thanks for the tip off lads

Been over to Peter today, and had loads of settings activated that I didn't know about. Fantastic that I can now open and close the roof with the key fob. Superb !

Peter is one of the most helpful guys I've ever met in his trade. It was a real pleasure to meet him and I really appreciated how he took the time to go through all the available settings with me and explain their functions. All for £25 if you mention the forum ! Can't say fairer than that !

Thanks a lot Peter - Highly recommended
