Well it's 2.45 am and there's hardly anyone on the board, never mind all log on at work tomorrow (only joking of course) :)

That's other thing about getting old, not needing sleep :D and what were you doing at 02:45?

So how many workers have actually posted during a meeting, extra kudos/more shame if they were board meetings

Hey some of ours go on that long I start to lose the will to live, people even answer their phones too, which as far as I'm concerned is a huge no no. But that's the way our owner wants to run his business so who am I to argue

as before: My rules for my meetings ..... Iaptops closed, phone off and on the table , not in your hands.

It drove me crazy when I sat in a meeting and watched all this sh*t going on, nobody paying attention to why they are even there. THe worst offenders were the so called Leaders....

when I held a meeting the rule was " All laptops closed , phones silenced, thank You."

When you work in telecoms, it seems to be standard practice for everyone to be tapping away on their tablets or mobiles.

I worked in Oil & Gas, it's the same, only if you let it happen. It is also incredibly rude and definitely not cost effective. If they don't need to pay attention, they don't need to be at the meeting.

Laptop use in meetings is extremely irritating, as you just know everyone is doing their email. If I have to have my laptop open in a meeting I will close down both my email and instant messenger. Phone face down on the table or in my pocket, or on silent. Neither would be visible in a customer meeting unless required. All that said, I have recently started to try and use MS One Note to organise my meeting notes & actions, so I may be a 'tapper' in the future. But I'd make it clear I was taking notes, not emailing.

Funny though, conference calls are the worst - you can tell those on mute doing something else by the length of time it takes for them to ask for the question to be repeated...

In one of the interviews I had recently a Vice President of EMEA for a global telecoms company actually ended the interview by answering a call... On his phone that had rung - and been ignored after he checked who it was - at least 4 times throughout my presentation and subsequent conversation. And in the feedback I got a week later he had the cheek to tell the HR chap that I didn't seem focused  w***er :wkr:

Back on topic, work has been intruding on my posting recently, very irritating :x

Funny enough, I was sat doing a peer review at a colleague's desk today, and I couldn't help but notice the blatant slacker behind me. Fresh cafetiere of coffee, slouched back in his chair, Beats headphones on... Playing The Room 2 on his iPad. For at least 30 minutes.

This was just before 3pm and we don't do shift work, so it wasn't his lunch break. He'd already taken lunch bang on 12 noon.

The guy has to be in his late 30s, so certainly old enough to know better!

I feel guilty enough taking a sneaky browse of the forum for 10mins after my lunch, daren't even post. I really miss you guys

It's really weird being back in an office environment in a small-ish team, 80% or more of whom are in the office every day. Feels very 90's lol. In my last job I could get away with anything (not that I did...) because everyone worked remotely, there was no travel unless it was customer-related, and when I went in to the HQ I'd be lucky if I saw 4 people I knew through the entire day. I've signed multi-million pound deals without ever meeting most of the team I was working with, whereas now most of the people I need are a 30sec walk round the corner.

Guilt will soon be buried by my work-load though, so that's ok :P
