Having sold my Daily Driver, ( the 5 Series) I am now in the market to replace it. I want another identical 520d M Sport Touring, but am looking for a High Spec'd Ex-Demo model about 6-9 months old with less than 10K on it.

I can find a Spec I'm happy with but only in my second choice colour of Silver, not in my preferred colour of Space Grey again.

Having sold mine now privately and fixed the sale price, should I wait another few weeks until 1st March when the 16 Plates come out before buying again ?
I'm wondering if :
a) Will the prices of 15 Plates drop much overnight on 1st March ?
b) Is there likely to be a boost of Ex-Demos coming into the dealerships
c) When are BMW's Sales Quarters ?

If anyone has some inside trade knowledge please let me know. (Salesmen just tell you what suits them ! )

All the fairly new low mileage cars are ex management scheme, so there's a steady stream of them coming through to the dealers.
 
Have you considered a A6 Avant Black Edition Alan ? No idea if price compares but a fine all round package

With the age and type of car you are looking at I would n't be in a rush to buy, there's always a steady supply, so it's not going to cost you to hang on a few more weeks. Might even save a few quite and get the colour your after.
 
With biannual the plate change prices don't drop like they used to - I remember the 1st September year change was a big event in the car industry, not so much now.
 
Have you not thought about leasing?

Some cracking deals to be had.

Have a look at Central Vehicle Leasing and take a look at some of the silly low monthly rentals on there. Ignore the miles p.a as the additional mileage is 6p per mile, 1000m miles will cost you £60 etc etc....

What deal have you managed per month, if i may ask ?

Ive looked at lease as it always looks attractive, until I start building the spec I want to drive and then I end up at double the starting price per month. and only 10,000 miles per year. I do approx 15,000 pa so if another £300 thats not too bad but I always end up around the £500/mth figure by the end of it, where as I'm paying £250 in my current arrangement with a positive value over the balloon at the end. . This is also a private car, not company financed.
 
It's an ok deal. £293 on a 9+23 8k miles lease. 520d 190 M Sport Tourer Manual. Actually cost more for manual and only options were privacy glass, would of liked more but options don't really make sense on a lease because of the cost. Was offered the same car on PCP for £320 a month with £2700 deposit over 4 years from Sytner BMW.
I like to change cars alot so like the hand it back feature of leases. The car will mainly be used by the other half and our new born.

Mmm Thats not bad.

I put a reasonable deposit in 5 years back and have changed twice by just rolling it on and using the excess value as a deposit.
I managed to change every 3 years and am paying £250 + I'd just been paying £50 for the extended warranty for a few months once it ran out of the 3 year manufacturers warranty. Therefore I can have a high spec with all the toys for about the same as you're paying plus it's mine if I want to keep it on a bit longer.

Mr Wilks suggests an Audi, but I've had two 5 series. They've never let me down and they suit our requirements, so I'm niaively reluctant to change !
 
It is not for nothing that the 5 series is always voted as the class winner.

I cant fault them. If I can drive one for £250/mth all under warranty with no worries, I just feel that'll do me ! :thumbsup:

Based on what though ? Most likely ownership costs for business use from new to year 2 or 3 which i appreciate has to factor but from the limited time ive spent in both F10 & A6 if it was based on kerbside appeal , drive & cabin feel the Audi would be my choice :wink: jmo but i think the 4 rings are doing it better :?
 
I've owned both and I like them in different ways

The Audi just feels carved from rock - solid and attractive but a little less involving as a drivers car

Had a number of different model 5 series now ( including current F10) and for me it's the drive experience I prefer

Oh and didn't mention I was burned by a Audi multitronic gearbox failure - and vowed to never give VAG my money again

Not much help but one of our sales guys needed my van so i had his 520d for a couple of days lovely car! Got some weird looks in the petrol station but thats normal whatever im driving.
