Should I up the rear tyre profile?

Has anyone changed the rear tyre profile from 255/35/18 to 255/40/18 ?

Need tyres and thought upping the profile might help with ride a bit as it’s really poor.

Anyone done this , did it help? Is there any rubbing ?

Cheers!

I've done this only recently and don't regret it.
Standard springs and bilstein dampers but no rubbing at all

I also went to non xl tyres and this helps with the ride big time.

Not noticed any difference in the speedo readings, plus no warnings on the abs front. I was worried the car compares front and rear wheel speeds but no problems at all.
I'll do the same for the front tyres when they need replacing but they're still on the standard sizes.

Note my tyres are Goodyear asymmetric 5 and they were more in cost than the standard sizes but worth the extra in my opinion.
Handling is still good though.

Maybe an obvious question but are you thinking of fitting non run-flats as they should be much better than run-flats.

My car had 19" CSL Replicas with 265/30 rear tyres when I got it but I have swapped to OE 224s and went for 255/45 x 18 rears instead of the OE 255/40 size and it has made a big difference to ride quality!

I've had no issues, and my speedo is actually more accurate.

Thanks for replies ! I think it would be a good idea for the extra sidewall.
Currently have very old XL tyres ( non runflat ) , I’ll definitely make sure new ones are non XL !
