Should I stay clear of buying this??

I'm looking for my first Z4 and I've seen this car advertised on AutoTrader and is exactly what i'm looking for but is just seems too good to be true for the price... only £9495 for a fully spec'd car.

BMW Z43.0iSE

I gave the dealer a call who said that they got the car directly from BMW (it was on a finance deal and BMW recovered it). The problem is that it has no service history apart from its first service and the service its just had now which means there's no record for about 3-4 services in between. BMW have verified the mileage and the dealer will provide a 12 month warranty which is extendable.

Is it a bargain or should a stay clear??

Will i have problems selling it later down the line (when i have it i'll get it serviced at BMW)???

if you contact your local BMW dealer and it has been serviced by BMW, they will have a record of it, and then give you a new service booklet ( which is more than likely a charge for  ) if you decide to buy,, they will perhaps be able to give you more info on it as well, that will help you decide.

Same age, colour and box, engine as mine and it's a popular combination with those wheels. Added Sat Nav heated seats, bluetooth etc. and it's a really well specced car and a good price from a dealer. Only downside is 70k is high (not in real terms but they tend to be driven less with most of that age on way less. Mine is <40k)

If it were a leaser then do BMW have a service history on their system??

Next get it's MOT certificate and go onto the DVLA MOT site. It will give you a full MOT history since it's first one. Mileage fails, advisory etc.

Personally if I were keeping it as a long termer then it would not worry me about the service history if I were reasonably sure it had been serviced. If selling in a year then it's more trouble, but frankly at that price you could almost break it for spares and not lose much

Rusty... the dealer has already tried that and there is no record unfortunately so there is no way of finding out if its been serviced or who by.

I have seen them for 7k now, so 9.5k from a dealer does not sound that cheap.

Walk away. If in doubt, walk away. There's other Z4s out there.

Also I don't think it's that cheap - I paid £10.4k for a 54-plate with only 18k miles, although mine is lower specced.

Where have you seen them for £7k?? I've book looking for a few months now and for this spec (sat nav+bluetooth, heated seats, CD changer, parking sensors, 108 rims) they were around £11k in Dec but seem to have gone up now to £11-12k.

Prices do seem to have gone up, its simple supply and demand, my local sytner cant get hold of facelift models and all the similar ones to mine are now up for £14-15k and i paid £13.5k on the road for mine. Cheapest ive seen Z4's is 8-9k and thats for early 2003-04

Hi

I have just brought a 53 plate 2.5, done only 28thou full history, hpi clear for £8800!

Seems there are some bargins out there.

BMW dealers should have plenty of pre-facelift models under £10k. Don't buy it without service history from independent dealers.

Biggsy, ksher... i can't seem to find a Grey or Black 3.0i Auto for less than £12-13k with all the extras (sav nav+bluetooth, elec adj heated seats, CD changer, parking sensors). Zed's under £10k are all basic specs.

Should i be looking elsewhere apart for AutoTrader, eBay, Pistonheads???

The mileage is helping the price to be low. Personally - I'd hold off until you find the car you want. There will be lots coming up for sale at the moment, so don't rush - I did (as I've said before here, very impulsive purchase) and I regret not getting the //M - would now be too much depreciation to change for at least a year!

FYI 2 months ago I payed 10k for my 2003 Black 3.0 Steptronic Auto with Pro Sat Nav, Factory Bluetooth, Heated/Elec leather, 18" ellipsoids, CD changer, cupholders and all the other stuff in my signature. It had 60k on the clock.

Look on http://www.autoquake.com for bargains

I enquired about this one mate...i think it only had like one service and that was in 2005 at an approved dealer..

I steered well clear...

I ended up paying £11k for a fully specced example this Sunday. And i mean full (Carver, heated seats, multi-cd,18", parking, SatNav, Bluetooth etc etc) 2003 plate. Car was one owner and full BMW Main dealer service....
