Should I go Matt Black Z4? (Tons of other flat black rides)

Excluding the scoobies & that F430, the mat black looks awesome, especially on the Nissan GTR, it would certainy look different so go for it. I read somewhere that the new Mercedes Black (it could be the brabus one i cant remember to be honest ?. it was in last months topgear magazine) stated that it was a vinyl covering the car, not paint. If its good enough for them to use why not ?

This one?

Ive been fantasizing about making the car flat black for months. The reason I think it works on the Z4 is BECAUSE we have the flame surfacing. The lines/cuts are what make the car, not the shiny paint. Ive researched it a few times but one of the only cars I found was the M5, which I thought looked great. Not to mention matte colors are wonderful for stealth... :D Sandman, let me know how you make out with the cost. I looked for full vehicle wraps but those looked like they were more for ads, etc.

Yes I agree that flat/matt black will REALLY bring out the lines of any car.. hence on a z4 the lines will really stand out....

Yep thats it, the Brabus Bullit !....that SLR & M5 look awesome!

I seem to remember on one of Mike Brewer's programmes they used vinyl stickers to cover a VW van. I think the cost was over £1,000 !!! The bea\ty is I guess that you can reverse the paint job by peeling it off! I think it would look great in a matte black or even a bare metal finish.

Someone did this already - I recall seeing pictures of a flat-black (this is called "murdered out" by fans of the look, btw) Z4M Coupe with black stock wheels and red time attack style stripes. Didn't much care for it myself. I know vinyl wraps cost $2000 here in the US, for those that are asking.

Would be helpful if you could point out where we can find this flat black Z4M?

NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Don't do it sandman, your car is absolutely gorgeous already.

As someone has already said, matt black is OK for batman, but don't spoil your ride.

Of course it is your choice but IMHO it would be a mistake.

BTW you mentioned either matt BLACK or matt WHITE. I guess the White option hasn't grabbed people's imagination as there are no pics posted :(

Only super/exotic cars can get away with having a flat-black paint job and still look cool. People know it's there for a purpose.

Sorry, but what is the "purpose" of flat black?

Personally when I looked at the thread title, I thought it was a very bad idea.....however on the right car it doesn't look bad.....quite mean. :)

the bare metal finish is also appealing... Aluminium plated look?

WHats everyone's opinion on that?

Both matte black / white and the metal finish could be very nice if the finishing of the product put on is good. But it will really hamper the value of the car.... dont think you would have much market for it if you are lookign to sell it eventually. Also if you opt to use viynl stickers, i am sure those stickers will do some sort of damage to the paint work?

I remember my friend is trying to remove his Nurburgring sticket from his car and the sticker also took out some of the paint with it leaving a horrible surface behind... and that is only a small ordinary sticker let alone these big strong vynil ones....

If it causes 0 damage then i guess its worth trying?
