Should I get a Z4

I've had mione 4 1/2 yrs during which time it's been wholly reliable, has cost me the grand total of £310 in servicing and has been hassle free fun. Whenever I walk back to it in a car park I still smile.

before I bought it I considered a Boxster, conscious that it was a lot dearer. I called the Porsche dealer and they never returned my call. I called the BMW dealer and they offered to bring one over for me to test. Pretty well a done deal by then.

I'm sure we all have cars we wished we'd bought but didn't. I'm glad the Z4 isn't one of mine :driving:

I recently bought a Z4MC and absolutely love it.

I was very close to buying an S2000. Had a few test drives of various cars, which culminated in a drive of a 2008my GT (revised suspension, new supposedly lighter wheels and VSA as standard).

Before getting into the car I thought, wahey - here we go! The drive didn't meet all expectations. There were lots of rattles from the trim and softtop and the engine just felt coarse and unrefined, especially when used in the way needed to get the best out of it (to be fair, others I'd driven were not as bad engine wise as the 2008 car). The pluses were that the gearshift is superb, the brakes felt strong and I quickly felt confident in the car's ability to take a bend (this was in the dry - not tried it in the wet).

I've not driven a Boxster so can't comment on that. But after just over three weeks of Z4 ownership there's no way I'd swap it for an S2000.

I've previously owned a Boxster, S2000 and Lotus Elise and of course the Z4.

I loved all my cars each for a different reason.I personally prefer the Z4 to the S2000 but doesn't necessarily mean the Z4 is a better car.

Some people are blinkered to other marques at their own peril. Try owning them before making silly comments such as the Boxster basically being a poor mans 911.
